‘Pig’: How Nicolas Cage Set On A Quest To Find A Kidnapped Truffle-Sniffing Swine

Nicolas Cage On Playing A Chef Whose Truffle 'Pig' Is Kidnapped [Video]

Don’t mistake Pig for another action revenge movie about a man who’s hellbent to find his pet truffle pig’s kidnappers.

It’s something greatly more and far more serious than that about a man who revisits his tortured past.

In the wake of winning a Best Actor Oscar back in 1996 for his turn as an alcoholic in Leaving Las Vegas, Cage’s box office marquee valued boomed with Face/Off and several Jerry Bruckheimer productions such as Gone in Sixty Seconds, The Rock, Con Air and the National Treasure franchise before churning a slew of independent shoot-’em-up movies.

But with Pig, the Coppola scion is receiving some of the best reviews of his career, once again, as a gourmet chef, well past his heyday, who ventures back to the Oregon city where he made his reputation, Portland, to find the truffle pig that was stolen from him. The Neon film is 97% certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes and has scored several accolades including National Board of Review Top Independent Film and Best Directorial debut by Michael Sarnoski, two Spirit noms for the Someone to Watch Award and Best First Screenplay by Sarnoski and Vaness Block as well as a DGA First Time Feature film nod for Sarnoski.

In the wake of Pig‘s success, Sarnoski is set to helm Paramount’s A Quiet Place spinoff.

Check out our Virtual Screening convo with Cage, Sarnoski and Block above.
