Ford Reveals Livery And Drivers For Hybrid Puma Rally1 Ahead Of 2022 WRC Season

Of the three teams competing in the 2022 WRC season, Ford was the last to unveil their car, the Puma Rally1, following Hyundai with their i20 N Rally1 and Toyota with their GR Yaris Rally1. But it seems the best was saved for last, as although we may not know each car’s potential, Ford’s livery is arguably the best of the bunch.

The bright purple livery features lightning bolts throughout to signify the WRC’s switch to hybrid power, and branding from Ford, Red Bull, and Castrol all make prominent appearances. Needless to say, it’s quite the departure from both last year’s colors and this year’s camouflaged testing livery.

The Puma Rally1 produces a combined output of over 493 hp (500 PS / 368 kW) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque from a 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-four engine and a battery electric system, 375 hp (380 PS / 279 kW) and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm) of which are from the internal combustion engine alone. Driving the car will be Craig Breen, Adrien Fourmaux, Gus Greensmith, and Sebastian Loeb, and their respective co-drivers will be Paul Nagle, Alex Coria, Jonas Andersson, and Isabelle Galmiche.

Regarding the start of the 2022 season and the series’ switch to hybrid power, Richard Millener, M-Sport Team principal, said: “It has been a very busy time getting the cars and team ready for next weekend’s Monte Carlo Rally and the opening of the 2022 World Rally Championship season, but one that will be worth the effort.
