At long last, our prayers have been answered: BTS have individual Instagram accounts, and their handles are better than we’d ever expected.

Somewhere between December 5 and 6, all seven members of BTS quietly unveiled their brand new Instagram accounts — all of which are already verified with Instagram’s coveted blue check and boasting over 10 million followers each. (Because lest we forget, this is the BTS we are talking about.)

All accounts have limited their comments sections, with only the other members being allowed to post on each others’ posts — and you know they are already making good use of that. We are assuming the members will like to keep fan interactions on Weverse and use Instagram more for themselves, so we as fans can relax, sit back, and enjoy the show. A new era indeed. Let's take a trip through BTS's IG handles and their first few posts on the platform.

RM, aka @rkive

First up is leader RM, who chose @rkive as his handle, in reference to his producing studio. “Just an archive,” his bio reads, all in lowercase. At the time of writing, RM has posted three pics on his account. The first is a throwback photo showing him chilling on a wooden chair near a cliff, marveling at the ocean views. The second one, this time tagged by RM himself as a throwback, is a snap from SoFi Stadium similar to one he had previously posted on Twitter. However, it is definitely the third one that takes the cake — by a large margin. RM’s third post shows himself, back turned to the camera, as he snaps a picture of a cat that’s lounging atop some stairs. “Finding yoongi,” he captioned the pic.

Jin, aka @jin

Next is Jin’s account. The member, who just celebrated his 29th birthday, has perhaps the most coveted username: @jin. How he managed to snag that one (or for how much) will always be a mystery to us — and we kinda love it that way. Jin’s account also proudly showcases three posts at the time of writing. The first one is a snap taken during the Permission to Dance concerts in L.A. that shows Jin channeling the doll from Squid Game with a set of cute pigtails and a PTD merch tee to boot. The second one is a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the DIY shirt that he used during the music video of his latest release “Super Tuna,” in honor of his birthday. If you haven’t yet watched, what are you doing? Actually, we’ll leave the video here and we can carry on with IG content after you’ve watched it. (It’s only fair!)

Okay, now that we have that serotonin boost, let’s continue. Jin’s third post is perhaps his most precious one. It’s a snap of himself and Jungkook from when they had a cameo on Agust D’s “Daechwita” music video. “막 and 맏,” J-Hope commented under Jin’s posts in between two red hearts, referring to Jin and JK’s positions as the youngest and oldest of the group.

Suga, aka @agustd

Of course, Suga already has the most professional account of the bunch. The Daegu wordsmith chose his solo stage moniker, Agust D, as his handle. His name is set as “SUGA of BTS,“ followed by his real name, Min Yoongi, in Hangul. His only post to date is a snap of some greenery. (Is this his way of telling us to touch some grass? Maybe... maybe not... anyway, we'll focus on the trees.)

J-Hope, aka @uarmyhope

We are two posts in, but we can already tell J-Hope is going to have the most aesthetic and curated feed among BTS, as expected. The Gwangju rapper went for the on-brand handle @uarmyhope. The two pics he’s posted so far — his silhouette at the beach and a moody PJs selfie playing with double exposure— appear to be Polaroid snaps that he has scanned and later uploaded. His profile pic, which shows him clad in Louis Vuitton, seems to have been taken at iHeartRadio’s Jingle Ball this past weekend and, of course, also has that film photo aesthetic. You have no choice but to admire the dedication.

Jimin, aka @j.m

Jimin’s handle is another of those hard-to-get ones: @j.m. The 95-liner currently has no bio, but his name is set as “JIMIN of BTS.” So far, he’s only posted a B&W pic of himself, which appears to be from the promotions for “Butter.” (Fellow member V has already commented on the pic that he just might recognize the figure in the background…) Jimin captioned his post with a simple but extremely effective hashtag: #JIMIN. It's a subtly heartwarming nod to ARMY. As you might already know, Jimin uses this exact hashtag to sign off all of his posts on BTS’s official Twitter account — so he’s keeping the tradition alive even cross-platform.

V, aka @thv

Next up is Jimin’s fellow 95-liner V. V went for the very aesthetic handle @thv, in reference to his given name and his stage moniker. For now, he also has no bio and his name just reads “김태형” (Kim Taehyung in Hangul). The star has posted two pictures so far. The first one shows a small animal skeleton (which prompted a hilarious comment from Jimin), while the second one is a carousel of two pics of himself: one from a photoshoot, posing with flowers, and one from his bathroom, posing with shaving cream… both equally impactful. V was also the first member who dared to try Instagram stories, posting a playful intro story of himself in bed playing around with zooms and filters.

Jungkook, aka @abcdefghi__lmnopqrstuvwxyz

Last but not least is maknae Jungkook with inarguably the most hilarious username: @abcdefghi__lmnopqrstuvwxyz. (You fill in the blanks…)

Anyway, genius naming aside, JK has also posted three pics. The first one is a snap of the sunset in Santa Monica; the second, like RM as the leader proudly pointed out in JK’s comments, is a pic he took before one of the concerts at SoFi; and the third one, receipts of his MBTI test results. (He’s a turbulent ISFP — aka a Turbulent Adventurer.)

BTS’s individual accounts arrive just after HYBE announced the septet will be taking a much-needed break to spend the holidays with their loved ones for the first time since their debut in 2013. “We would like to inform you that BTS is planning to take a second official extended period of rest since their first in 2019,” HYBE announced on December 5 (December 6 in Korea) via Twitter. “BTS stayed active in order to engage with fans in 2020 and 2021 amidst the COVID-19 situation, and achieved dazzling results to cement themselves as top global artists. This period of rest will provide the members of BTS who have tirelessly committed themselves to their activities, a chance to get re-inspired and recharge with creative energy.”

The announcement also said that BTS, who just wrapped a successful four-day run at Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium, is “focusing on preparing for the concert and release of the new album that will mark the beginning of a ‘new chapter.’” Bring on 2022.
