If there's one thing that Madelaine Petsch will never cut corners on, it's her skincare routine. The actress and Riverdale star has been open in the past about the amount of energy she usually dedicates to taking care of skin, and she's also revealed a number of products she typically uses to keep her skin healthy and hydrated while at it.

Last year while sharing her everyday skincare routine with Vogue, she named a number of products that she usually relies on to keep her skin in shape, most of which were those from cult favorite brands such as the Renée Rouleau Elderberry Soothing Toner, the Sisley Paris Sisleÿa L'Intégral Anti-Age Eye & Lip Contour Cream & Massage Tool, and the Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado.

While the aforementioned products are of the luxury variety, Petsch is also a big fan of drugstore brands. The star is currently a Bliss ambassador, and she frequently speaks highly of the brand's budget products that she uses on busy work days in between scenes.

"I don't know if I'm crazy or if everybody does that, but I just really love eye patches," she told POPSUGAR of the Bliss Eye Got This Under Eye Masks. "[They} make me feel luxurious no matter what I'm doing. I'll throw them on to go to the gym or before I do whatever. It's such an easy thing to do where I feel like I'm doing a little self care."

Previously, Petsch was a Bioré ambassador, and she once told Allure that she'd fit extra skincare steps into busy workdays by doing things like wearing pore strips while driving home.

"I don't like to overdo it with my skin, either, so I love those kinds of tiny little things," she said.

She has a “less is more approach” when it comes to makeup

As a lead actress on one of The CW’s most popular series’, wearing makeup is practically part of her job, but when Petsch is if off camera, she prefers to be bare-faced. The star told Allure that her habit of wearing minimal to no makeup on her off days is one major contrast between herself and her character, Cheryl Blossom.

“It's funny because you'd think that she would inspire me to wear more makeup, but in reality, when I take off the Cheryl makeup, I can enjoy my face so much more,” she told Allure. “When you have it all on, you look in the mirror sometimes, and you feel like a clown. You're like, 'Who's that?' But then when you take it off, it's refreshing to be able to enjoy the look of your face without makeup on. So that's [how] she's inspired me, to live my life with less makeup.”

Her skincare routine is a lot more minimal than you’d think

Back in 2020, Petsch shared her skincare routine with Vogue, and while the video she filmed would have you think that her everyday routine involves a total of 38 whole steps, she clarified later that it’s actually a lot more simple than that in reality.

"No human being in their right mind has that much stuff on their face,” she told POPSUGAR. “I was under the impression that they were going to cut it down."

She does her own makeup while on set

Petsch revealed in her Vogue skincare video that she often prefers to do her own makeup while filming certain projects, since it leaves her with full control of what she uses and how much of each product is going to be applied.

"I've started doing my own makeup on the show, and that's really changed my skin because I can control what's going on it," Petsch said. "I feel like, when you're on camera all the time and people are just looking at all of your pores, it's nice to make sure you're taking care of it to the best of your ability."

She mentioned in a later interview that she usually likes to remove all of her face makeup during longer breaks on set so that she can reapply it instead of adding more product on top of it.

She’s really into skin icing

One of the bigger secrets to Petsch's healthy glow is her practice of skin icing, a popular skincare trend that's blown up on TikTok over the last year.

"I'm very into icing my face before I go to work for water retention and puffiness," she said in an interview. "I do a nice lymphatic drainage massage on myself as well."

For the unfamiliar, skin icing is a form of cold therapy that involves putting ice, ice rollers, cold tools, or anything that can lower the temperature of the skin on your face. The overall goal is to reduce inflammation of the skin while also waking the skin up by improving circulation and increasing blood flow.

She never neglects her undereyes.

An important part of her skincare routine that Petsch makes sure to never forget about is taking care of the skin under her eyes. She's revealed on many occasions that she's a big fan of the Bliss Eye Got This Under Eye Masks.

"They de-puff and brighten my eyes which is exactly what I need this early in the morning," she said in a YouTube video documenting her morning routine.
