Within just a week of Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker announcing their engagement in October 2021, sources already started talking to multiple outlets about what their wedding will look like...along with their plans for life after it. Here, all we know about the couple's evolving plans for their 2022 nuptials—and hopes of starting a family together.
Kardashian and Barker are already wedding planning less than two weeks after Barker popped the question.
Entertainment Tonight ran updates on Oct. 26 that indicated wedding planning is full steam ahead for the newly engaged couple, who have dated for less than a year. “Kourtney and Travis have already started talking about wedding planning and they're both so excited,” ET's source said.
Kardashian-favorite event planner Mindy Weiss is involved along with Kris Jenner.
E! noted that Kardashian tapped Weiss and her mother to help with wedding planning. “They are all doing it together,” one source told the outlet on January 4. “Kourtney is relaxed and laid back about the details. She's not a bridezilla at all. Travis is also involved, but he lets Kourtney make most of the decisions and wants it to be her day.”
Kardashian and Barker want to get married sooner rather than later.
Don't expect a long engagement, a source also told ET on Oct. 26. “They are hoping to get married sooner than later,” the source said.
Kardashian and Barker are set on a 2022 wedding date, but one has not been set yet in January 2022.
A source told E! in a report published on January 4, “Even though Kourtney would like it to be soon, logistically it's taking some time.”
That source added, “[They] want the wedding to happen this year.”
In late October, Kardashian and Barker were still deciding how big their wedding would be.
On Oct. 18, E! was told by a source that Kardashian and Barker wanted to go big with their ceremony. This is Kardashian's first marriage, after all. (It's Barker's third.) “This is a huge deal for her,” the source said. “They want to do the whole big traditional wedding ceremony and everything, and have already talked about it.”
Still, a source told ET on Oct. 26 that a smaller ceremony was also a possibility. “Lately, they have been considering having a destination wedding that will be intimate and small,” the source said.
In January 2022, Kardashian and Barker were planning on having a small ceremony.
A source told E! in January, “It won't be a huge event, only close friends and family.”
In March 2022, a source said the wedding would be before fall.
A source told Entertainment Tonight that Kardashian and Barker will be married within months. “Kourtney and Travis are looking at dates in the spring and summer for their wedding," the source said. "They want their wedding to speak on behalf of both of their styles with some sexiness and elegance.”
Kardashian's ex Scott Disick isn't likely to attend.
Disick, Kardashian's on-off boyfriend and the father of her three children, isn't likely to attend the ceremony—at least at this point. On Oct. 26, a source told ET that while he is still invited to Kardashian-Jenner family functions, Disick, who is still “processing” the news of his ex permanently moving on, may opt out of attending them.
“Scott is still very close with Kris [Jenner, Kardashian's mom], along with other members of the family, and him and Kris talk to each other all the time,” the source said. “He will still be included and welcomed in various Kardashian celebrations, including holidays, as he is still their family. But right now, he doesn't know if he will choose to be around.”
That source added that in late October, Disick was feeling bitter about Kardashian and Barker's engagement. “Scott has been trying to do his own thing and process Kourtney and Travis' engagement,” the source said. “He's getting back to going out and hitting the party scene again. He's not dating anyone seriously yet at this point, and he is also trying to get under Kourtney's skin by being spotted out and about.”
A source told People on Oct. 18 that, point blank, Disick isn't happy about Kardashian marrying Barker. “Scott never approved of Kourtney dating Travis. He has struggled with their relationship,” that source said. “He always had this idea that he and Kourtney would eventually get back together. He was pretty shocked when he found out that she was dating Travis.”
Kardashian and Barker want to have a baby and hope to be pregnant by 2022.
Whether a pregnancy or wedding come first, Kardashian and Barker definitely do want a child together on the sooner side, E! reported on Oct. 26. A source close to Kardashian told the outlet that Barker and Kardashian are “hoping to be expecting by next year.”
A second source told the network, “They would love nothing more than to have a baby together. Kourtney has always wanted another baby and never felt like she was done. Now that she's with Travis, she wants it even more.”
The couple wants to have a “really exclusive” wedding ceremony.
A source told Entertainment Tonight on January 14 that they're planning a very “intimate and special” wedding and it will be “sooner than later.”
“Kourtney and Travis want to get married sooner than later. Wedding planning has already begun and things are in motion. They want their wedding to be really exclusive,” the source said. “They both have a lot of friends, but want it to be intimate and special. Kourtney is super excited to get married to Travis. Both Kourtney and Travis are so looking forward to spending the rest of their lives together as soulmates.”
The source said that both Barker and Kardashian are “very involved in the wedding planning process” and that the wedding “will be very ‘them’ and their style.”
