Prince William and Prince Harry’s feud has become both the stuff of royal legend and a thing we’ve all just kind of accepted might be around forever. This week, though, Will might have given royal fans the first glimmer of hope that things are looking up between the infamously estranged brothers. Do you hear that? That’s the sound of royal fans around the world gasping and then holding their breath in the hope that these actually-good-for-once rumors are true.

According to The Sun, Will made a “rare show of unity” with Harry during a private reception he recently hosted at Kensington Palace in belated celebration of the unveiling of a memorial statue in honor of their late mother, Princess Diana.

“It was very intimate and sweet,” a source said of the event, which was held as a thank-you for donors and friends and included many people with close, personal connections to the late royal. “There was a real family feel, as many of Diana’s 17 godchildren were also there.”

While Harry flew to the United Kingdom in July for the statue’s unveiling, he didn’t return for the reception, which was cohosted this month by William and his wife, Kate Middleton, according to Vanity Fair. For the record, Harry missing the reception didn’t come as a surprise—royal experts predicted over the summer that neither he nor his wife, Meghan Markle, who welcomed daughter Lilibet Diana in June, would attend the event.

Still, William made sure Harry’s presence—and his appreciation for the donors who made the memorial possible—were felt during a speech he made at the private affair.

“William made a brilliant speech saying thank you from him and Harry and how happy they both were with the statue,” The Sun’s source added. “He mentioned Harry by name. The brothers are barely on speaking terms but it’s clear the Princess Di statue has done some good.”

This is probably the best royal gossip we’ve heard in…years? Consider our fingers crossed and our hopes high that it turns out to be true and that Harry and Will’s relationship is officially on the mend.
