Chrissy Teigen has shared a heartbreaking photo of her taken days after the devastating loss of her son.

In September last year, the model took to social media to announce she and husband John Legend had lost their third child, just days after she was admitted to hospital in an effort to save their baby.

Chrissy suffered severe bleeding around halfway through her pregnancy, and underwent several blood transfusions, but baby Jack sadly died.

In honour of Pregnancy Loss Awareness Month, the 35-year-old star took to Instagram on Sunday to share a grief-stricken tribute to her son, posting a photo of her taste testing recipes just days after losing him.

“Pregnancy loss awareness week you say?? I know. I feel like I never let you forget it, either,” Chrissy began.

The snap showed the model curled up on a sofa covered with a blanket with two uneaten bowls of food.

Her cookbook co-author and close friend Adeena Sussman sat next to her wearing an apron and holding a large bowl of prawns and vegetables.

“But I was going through BTS of cookbook making with @adeenasussman and came across this photo, taken soon after losing our little jack,” the Cravings author continued.

The Lip Sync Battle co-host then said she threw herself into writing to “distract from the trauma, the pain, the grief”, but some days she was hit so hard with grief that she could barely leave the couch.

“But not all days were productive. Many were…this. Days I felt suctioned to the couch with barely an appetite to even taste our recipes,” she added.

“It was during this time that i truly believed Adeena was sent by god herself. When I tell your this book saved me, I only kind of mean that. It was Adeena. Love u guys,” Chrissy concluded her emotional post.

Chrissy and Adeena first worked together on their first cookbook, Cravings: Recipes for All the Food You Want to Eat, back in 2016, with the Israeli-American chef living with Chrissy and her husband John for several months as they created recipes.

Adeena, who lives in Israel, then relocated to Los Angeles once again for their 2018 cookbook Cravings: Hungry for More, and the duo have just released their third offering, Cravings: All Together: Recipes to Love.

Chrissy previously paid tribute to Adeena in a post last month, as shared a picture of the friends cooking along with the model’s daughter Luna, five.

“I don't know what I would have done without this woman in my home one year ago. I really f***ing love what we have created together, my work wife,” she wrote.
