Any protective style with buns involved is automatically adorable, IMO. Like, I’m pretty sure that’s the hair law. But if you aren’t convinced, just check out these beautiful stitch-braid buns on this week’s The Braid Up. In case you weren’t previously aware, stitch braids are already such a solid look to begin with, since their classic stitch pattern always looks so cool and precise. When you top them off with some cute textured buns like hairstylist Camille Riley did in today’s episode, you’ve got a fresh, slicked-back style at the front and a party in the back (no mullet required).

Told you you’d be into this look. Now here are some tips on how you can do it:

1. Moisturize that scalp. It never hurts to prioritize scalp care. Using a daily leave-in scalp treatment will lock in the necessary moisture for strong, healthy hair and prevent annoying itchiness. You can also try using a scalp scrub to create a clean foundation for your look (check out options below).

    2. Try switching up the parts. Don’t feel too committed to the standard straight parts between the braids. If you want some extra edge, ask your stylist to part zigzag lines into your hair instead of straight ones. It’ll add some personality to this already unique look.

    3. Cut the curling process. Rather than having to roll and dip the ends in hot water for the curly texture, use some pre-curled braiding hair. You can also try out a different hair shade with the extensions to mix up the look a bit too.

    4. Lay your edges. This is the moment to channel your inner Saweetie and go to town laying your baby hairs. With a small brush, a quality edge-control formula, and a silk scarf to secure your hair, you’ll have the cutest waves by the time you’re finished.
