Marjorie Taylor Greene and Debbie Dingell Ramp Up Abortion Feud Online After Capitol Clash

Representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene and Debbie Dingell have exchanged criticism on social media following their clash on the steps of the Capitol building on Friday.

Greene, a Republican representing Georgia's 14th congressional district, sparred publicly with Dingell, a Democrat who represents Michigan's 12th congressional district after the House of Representatives passed pro-abortion legislation.

The representatives later took to Twitter and apparently continued arguing about the incident, with Greene once again criticizing abortion as "killing babies" and calling Dingell a "joke."

Dingell shared a tweet on Friday from Scott Wong, senior staff writer at The Hill newspaper, that featured a video of the incident at the Capitol.

The congresswoman wrote: "Two things we learned today. 1- Be a good neighbor 2- Don't mess with Michigan women."

Greene later retweeted Dingell and added her own comment, saying: "Two things we learned today: 1- ALL House Democrats are evil and will kill unborn babies all the way up to birth & then celebrate. 2- You might fall down the stairs when your unhinged & hypocritically preaching about being civil, going to church & killing babies."

"You're a joke," Greene added.

Her tweet referred to the specific verbal exchange between the two representatives on Friday where Dingell told Greene she lacked "civility" while Greene said abortion was murder.

On Saturday, Greene tweeted about the event again, saying: " My former Chief of Staff tells the story far better than most of the media who apparently wants babies slaughtered as much as @RepDebDingell" and shared a thread from Patrick Parsons.

Greene wrote that "Dingellberry is like one of those annoying little pieces of [poop emoji] that clings on far too long. Time to wipe Congress clean!"

Parsons said that he "quite enjoyed" the confrontation and went on to criticize Dingell and praise Greene, pointing to the fact that Dingell was elected to fill the seat vacated by her late husband, John Dingell, who represented Michigan in Congress from 1955 to 2015. He passed away in 2019.

Dingell told Greene on Friday: "You should be ashamed for your lack of civility."

"Killing a baby up until birth is a lack of civility. It's called murder," Greene said, going on to say: "How about the border down there? Lack of civility."

"How about lack of laws or protecting our Constitution..." Greene said.

"We have lots of laws we follow," Dingell said. "You should practice the basic thing you're taught in church: Respect your neighbor!"

"Taught in church? Are you kidding me? Try being a Christian and supporting life!" Greene replied.

Dingell said: "You try being a Christian and treat your colleagues decently!"

At one point, Representative Frank Pallone, a Democrat who represents New Jersey's 6th congressional district, came to Dingell's side in what might have been an attempt to steady her.

"Watch your step, lady. You're going to fall down," Greene said. "Control yourself."

House Democrats passed the Women's Health Protection Act on Friday with Republicans and one Democrat, Representative Henry Cuellar of Texas' 28th congressional district, voting against the measure.

The bill was passed in reaction to a controversial new Texas abortion ban and the Supreme Court's decision not to grant a stay of the law. The Women's Health Protection Act enjoys the support of the Biden administration but may not make it to President Joe Biden's desk as it appears on track for rejection in the evenly divided Senate.
