Rylan Clark-Neal has shared a cryptic Instagram post which seemed to be about "people taking advantage" of his kind nature after his five-month break and marriage split.

The TV star and Radio 2 presenter surprised his followers on social media on Wednesday when he shared a quote about turning nasty after being taken advantage of.

"What's wrong with being too nice? People will always try to take advantage of it until you aren't nice at all," the quote read.

Rylan posted the words on his Instagram Stories with no comment.

It’s not known what the 32-year-old TV personality was referencing with the mysterious post, but his fans were left concerned by his sudden outburst.

He's not shared the quote on his Instagram grid, or his Twitter page, and posts on Instagram Stories expire after 24 hours.

Earlier this month, Rylan returned to his Radio 2 show after a five month break following his split from husband of six years, Dan Neal.

“It's good to be back,” he captioned a post on Instagram, as he announced his long-awaited return to the airwaves.

Last week, Rylan co-hosted The One Show with Ronan Keating, and recently confirmed he will be hosting Strictly’s spin-off BBC2 show It Takes Two with former pro dancer Janette Manrara, which will kick off on Monday.

Heartbroken Rylan decided to take a step back from his career after he confirmed he and former Big Brother star Dan parted ways in June.

"I have made a number of mistakes which I deeply regret and have inevitably led to the breakdown of our marriage,” he said in a statement at the time, adding that he was taking time away from work because he was “not in a good place at the moment and am seeking help.”

"I am trying to take each day at a time and would like to say thank you to everyone for their support and for respecting our privacy at this time,” Rylan’s statement added.

However, in August, it was reported that the couple may be working on their marriage after Dan’s car was spotted parked outside the home they used to share in Essex.

An insider told The Sun that everyone was rooting for them to work things out, and the estranged couple were “in a better place” following their brief split.

Rylan first found fame as a contestant on The X Factor in 2012, and went on to win Celebrity Big Brother in 2013.

He met former policeman Dan later that year, as he interviewed him on the Big Brother spin-off show Big Brother’s Bit on the Side after he was evicted.

They got engaged in Paris one year later, and tied the knot in an intimate star-studded ceremony in November 2015.
