Adele Dials Up the Drama in Dreamy Schiaparelli

Daniel Roseberry’s riotous Schiaparelli designs have shocked and delighted the fashion world since he took the reins of the house in 2019. After Lady Gaga’s dramatic inauguration look and Bella Hadid’s exquisitely ornate “lungs” dress at Cannes, the provocative designer’s bijoux-laden couture is firmly on Hollywood’s agenda. This weekend, while at a high-profile event in the US with her now (Instagram official!) partner Rich Paul, Adele wore a black Schiaparelli gown with the cloud-like off-the-shoulder detail the brand does so well.

The powerhouse singer posted a carousel of three rare pictures showing off the angles of her sculptural dress and the audacious earrings she chose to complement the Old Hollywood-with-a-twist silhouette. The sweet pearls suspended in gold teeth are emblematic of the intriguing motifs at the heart of Schiaparelli’s surrealist glamour: all ears, eyes, noses, lips and... Adele’s special molars.

Roseberry’s work is perfect for a woman who has always gone her own way, instead of playing by the music or celebrity industry’s rules. “I want to make an alternative couture house,” the Texas-born craftsman has said of challenging the traditional codes of Paris couturiers and transforming fashion to almost fantastical effect. “Elsa Schiaparelli’s were garments meant to celebrate the joy of peacocking… the joy of showing off.”
