Katie Piper has said that her children will need to learn how to earn their own money as she will not be supporting them.

The model and presenter, who is mum to daughters Belle, seven, and Penelope, three, with her husband Richard Sutton, says that when the girls are old enough to work they will have to pay their way like she did.

The new Loose Women presenter, 37, says that her parents encouraged her to work in a supermarket when she was a teen to earn her own money which 'set her up' to be the person she is today.

In an interview with OK! magazine, Katie was asked if she plans to raise her kids the same way.

"Definitely. They will have to get jobs because I’m not going to support them!" she insisted.

"They do need to learn about the importance of earning their own money and respecting people."

Katie joins a long list of celebs who have spoken out to say they won't be giving their offspring a leg up in the future.

James Bond star Daniel Craig has also admitted that he is staunchly against the idea of giving away his vast fortune to his children.

The actor, who reportedly received over £20 million for his final role as the British spy and will receive £70 million from Netflix for the sequels to Knives Out, said: "My philosophy is to get rid of it or give it away before you go. I don't want to leave great sums to the next generation."

TV Chef Gordon Ramsay is on the same page, telling the Telegraph about his and wife Tana's five children: “It’s [my money] definitely not going to them, and that’s not in a mean way; it’s to not spoil them.

"The only thing I’ve agreed with Tana is they get a 25% deposit on a flat, but not the whole flat."

Musician Sir Elton John, who raises two sons with husband David Furnish, said that while he will give his boys some financial stability he wants them to learn the importance of working hard.

"Anything beyond the basic, they have to go out and earn it themselves. If they want a Picasso, they have to go out and earn it. I think there’s real sensibility in that. But it’s terrible to give kids a silver spoon. It ruins their life."

Other famous faces refusing to be the bank of mum and dad indefinitely, include billionaire Bill Gates, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerburg, Ashton Kutcher and wife Mila Kunis and singer Sting.

Katie's determination to have her children become as independent as she is, also stems from her upbringing having given her the strength to cope with what has been a particularly challenging adult life.

In 2008, aged 24, she survived an acid attack that had been arranged by her now incarcerated ex-boyfriend. Her resilience made her a household name as she used her horrific experience to encourage others to persevere and set up the Katie Piper Foundation to help other burns and scars survivors.

She has since become a best-seller - who has authored nine books - has a new bedding and interiors collection and recently joined the panel of Loose Women. She's considered a role model to many.

While how she was raised is a credit to her success, she also admits that it's her faith in Christianity and lack of dwelling on the past that also helps. She added to Ok! 'I only live in the present tense, so I don’t spend my life worrying about things that haven’t happened yet.'

Katie’s book A Little Bit Of Faith: Hopeful Affirmations For Every Day Of The Year is out now, in bookstores and online. Her bedding collection is available from bedeckhome.com.
