Billie Eilish’s ‘Happier Than Ever’ Is Hurtling to U.K. No. 1

The teenage alternative pop phenomenon’s sophomore set, Happier Than Ever (Interscope), leads the midweek chart after selling more units (vinyl, cassette, CDs and downloads) than the rest of the Top 10 combined, the OCC reports.
If it claims the crown, Eilish will go two-for-two, after her 2019 debut When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? logged three weeks at No. 1, making her the youngest female artist to rule the national albums chart.
Billie’s presence can be felt on both main charts. Three songs from Happier impact the midweek singles chart Top 40, led by the album’s title track which bows at No. 12, the highest for any new release.
Coming in at No. 2 on the Official Chart Update is Dave’s We’re All Alone In This Together (Dave Neighbourhood), last week’s leader. We’re All Alone was the most-streamed album in the first half of the chart week.

Also appearing high on the midweek chart is Welcome 2 America (Sony Music CG), the first posthumous studio album of unreleased material from Prince. It’s new at No. 22 and could give the Purple One his 22nd U.K. Top 10 title.
Also, new releases from Creeper (American Noir at No. 5 via Roadrunner), Erasure (The Neon Remixed at No. 7 via Mute), Big Big Train (Common Ground at No. 9 via English Electric) and The Overtones (10 at No. 10 via Hurricane) are eyeing Top 10 berths.
