Kate Garrawayhas revealed the heart-stopping moment her son Billy was flung off a horse in a riding lesson that went very wrong.

The Good Morning Britainpresenter interviewed Charlotte Dujardin, Great Britain’s greatest woman Olympian, about her sport equestrian on today’s show.

Charlotte’s nine-year reign as Olympic individual dressage champion ended at Tokyo Equestrian Park, but her bronze medal saw her break the British record of five Olympic medals she jointly held with rower Dame Katherine Graingerand tennis player Kitty Godfree.

And 54-year-old Kate was quick to recall the terrifying time her 11-year-old boy Billy was dangerously catapulted into the air during a horse riding lesson which went badly wrong.

The animal in question suffered a sudden bout of wind according to Kate, leaving a shell-shocked Billy hurtling to the ground.

I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!star Kate was filming the lesson at the time and has promised viewers of the ITV show she will share the footage if she can find it on her phone.

"Billy got thrown from a horse because the horse had really quite bad wind,” revealed Kate, chatting to fellow GMB host Ben Shephard.

A stunned Ben replied: "What!"

"Really bad, I've actually got it on film, I'll find it if you like," admitted Kate.

Ben enquired: "Billy got thrown off the horse because the horse had bad wind?"

And Kate said: "He had a bit of windy pops. You can actually hear it on the video.

"He's [Billy] fine, everyone's fine. The horse stopped and turned around.

“Smokey, the horse was - and looked at him as if to say 'I'm so sorry'.

"Always Billy, poor old Billy.”

Respected presenter Kate has been bravely battling on with life with Covid having deeply affected her family during the last 18 months.

Her husband Derek Draperis still recovering from long Covid having contracted the disease in March last year and left fighting for his life.

He was put in an induced coma for a number of months and is now being nursed at home as he looks to recover from the long ordeal.

But Kate revealed that damage to different parts of his body has led to other medical problems emerging as a result.

"I know Derek is an extreme example of [long Covid], all the time there are more issues,” revealed Kate.

“Initially, it was a bit of exhaustion and now it seems to be more of them presenting."

“More and more are emerging as different parts of the body are damaged.”
