Britney Spears has reportedly chosen who she’d like to replace her father, Jamie Spears, as the conservator of her estate.

The pop star’s new lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, filed documents this week requesting that Jason Rubin be appointed to his client’s conservatorship, according to TMZ. Rubin is a CPA with experience handling elder-financial-abuse litigation, as well as managing complex trust portfolios, per his website. According to the legal documents obtained by TMZ, Britney’s current cash assets are valued at $2,730,454, with noncash assets totaling $57,666,398. The outlet believes this is not a complete picture of her financial portfolio as there are also a number of Morgan Stanley accounts listed and real estate valued at $8,455,483.

Should the court grant Rosengart’s request to have Jamie removed and Rubin take over his role, the CPA would have the financial authority to manage Britney’s estate, in addition to the powers of attorney to make a decision regarding her health care and real estate. So far, those health care decisions have been largely left up to the singer’s other co-conservator, Jodi Montgomery. In the paperwork, according to TMZ, Britney and Rosengart also express their desire to have Rubin pursue civil harassment restraining orders. The hearing over Rubin’s appointment is scheduled for December 13 and Britney is planning to be in attendance.

In addition to this move by Rosengart, Britney’s mom, Lynne Spears, also filed a declaration in support of her daughter requesting Jamie’s removal, according to documents obtained by E! News. “I became involved in this conservatorship during what I will term a ‘time of crisis’ that began at the end of 2018 and continued into 2019,” Lynne wrote, explaining that she got involved as she believes that the conservatorship is not in Britney’s best interest. She claims that over the last 13 years, Jamie and their daughter’s relationship has “dwindled to nothing but fear and hatred” of him because of his “complete control” over her. She adds that their relationship has been tainted by “his mistrust of her, his coercion of her, his ‘bartering’ with her over what she can and cannot do for whatever reward or punishment he is willing to mete out, his constant threats, and his decision-making over all aspects of her life.”

She concludes by saying that, “Of the actions that solidified the failure of my daughter’s and Mr. Spears’ relationship, the physical altercation between Mr. Spears and [Britney’s] minor children, my grandchildren, was perhaps the most appalling and inexcusable, and understandably destroyed whatever was left of a relationship between them.” Lynne is seemingly referring to a September 2019 incident in which the pop star’s ex-husband, Kevin Federline, accused Jamie of abusing their son, Sean Federline, who was 13 at the time. Ventura County District Attorney’s Office dropped the investigation, but Federline did obtain a restraining order against Jamie.

When Rosengart previously requested Jamie’s resignation from his conservatorship position during a court hearing earlier this month, Jamie’s lawyer, Vivian Thoreen, replied that her client would not resign, as “Mr. Spears has been involved since day one. He has been there for his daughter 24/7…He loves his daughter and only wants the best for her.”
