Modest Mouse returns to No. 1 on Billboard‘s Adult Alternative Airplay chart with “We Are Between,” which rises 2-1 on the ranking dated June 19.
The song gives the veteran rockers two straight No. 1s and two total (among five top 10s) on Adult Alternative Airplay, following “Lampshades on Fire,” which crowned the tally for four weeks beginning in February 2015.
The band’s latest single rules in just its fifth week on the chart, besting the nine-week trip to No. 1 for “Lampshades.” The Black Keys‘ “Crawling Kingsnake,” the song that “Between” dethrones, also reached the summit in five frames.
Concurrently, “Between” rises 10-8 on Alternative Airplay after becoming Modest Mouse’s fifth top 10. The band first reached the chart in 2004, when breakthrough single “Float On” ruled for a week that July.
On the all-rock-format, audience-based Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, “Between” lifts 10-8 with 4.2 million audience impressions, up 11%, according to MRC Data.
The Golden Casket, Modest Mouse’s seventh studio album, is due June 25. In addition to its lead single, one other song, “Leave a Light On,” has been released from the LP so far.
