Following a slew of photos, the first audiovisual teaser for BTS’ “Butter” is finally here and we are headed to funky town.

The new teaser, which is also the last item on the “Butter” comeback schedule before the official music video drop on May 21, shows a B&W still frame of the seven members clad in disco-inspired outfits with shoulder pads, glitter, and satin galore.

A funky bassline – much in line with Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust” – sets the tone for some serious head bopping. “Get it, let it, roll,” Jungkook sings shortly after the B&W scene gives way to a closeup of three stacked pancakes with, of course, butter and syrup on top.

Announced in late April with an hour-long “melting” trailer, the forthcoming second full-English single from the septet, following last year’s record-breaking “Dynamite,” was described as “dance-pop” and the teaser certainly lives up to that.

Speaking to Rolling Stone earlier this month, leader RM said the song will be “very energetic” and “very summery.” In the same interview, RM also revealed that the track will feature “a very dynamic performance,” which the group will debut live during the 2021 BBMAs on May 23

Together with the full video, BTS' “Butter” will release on May 21 as a digital single and will also be released as a physical single later this summer. BTS are slated to hold a press conference to coincide with the single release, where they are expected to explain more about the track — so stay tuned.
