Just because the Met Gala isn't today, doesn't mean the first Monday in May doesn't deserve a Met Gala-style celebration. Today what we’ve got for you is Met Gala news. And it’s as official as official gets: Timothée Chalamet is co-hosting the 2021 Met Gala this year. The news was reported last night in an exclusive with Page Six. Timothée will reportedly co-host with American poet Amanda Gorman, singer Billie Eilish, and tennis star Naomi Osaka.

The event, which is set to take place on September 13th as a closing chapter to New York Fashion Week, will be the first part of a two-part celebration of American fashion at The Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute. The September event, titled “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” will spotlight contemporary American designers, especially as the American fashion world has begun to embrace more diverse voices. The exhibit at the Costume Institute will open on September 18.

Vogue said that Timothée to be a perfect example of contemporary American fashion: “unexpected mix of streetwear, lack of a stylist, and embrace of Avant-garde labels setting him apart from his peers.” We can only imagine what Timothée will wear on the steps of the Met this September. Whatever it is, we hope we get another tourist keychain red carpet moment.
