Mrs. Sri Lanka winner Pushpika De Silva has revealed she was injured after reigning Mrs. World Caroline Jurie “snatched” the crown off her head during Sunday’s ceremony.

In footage posted to YouTube by the Colombo Gazette, Jurie tells the audience, “There is a rule that you have to be married and not divorced, so I am taking my first steps in saying that the crown goes to the first runner-up.” She then goes to a great effort to remove the crown from a visibly upset De Silva’s head.

De Silva spoke out about the incident in a Facebook post, saying, per People (which translated from the original Sinhala), that she suffered “injuries to my skull.” She also clarified that she is not, in fact, divorced.

“As I write this, I responsibly say that I am not a divorced woman,” she wrote. “If I am divorced, I challenge them to submit my divorce papers. So even though that symbolic crown has been snatched from my head, I would like to inform you that I have already taken the necessary legal action for the injustice and insult that has taken place.” She added that “a real queen is not a woman who snatches another woman’s crown but a woman who secretly sets the other woman’s crown!!”

De Silva later thanked pageant officials after it was revealed that her crown would be returned and that the Mrs. World organization had begun an investigation into the incident. “I do not hate anyone and I forgive those who do so to me at that moment,” she wrote. “Nothing can be won by hatred.”
