Everything Coming To Netflix In March 2021

Following
This article is more than 3 years old.

It’s kind of crazy to think we’re already nearly two months into the new year. 2021 has been pretty crazy in a lot of ways, but it also promises to be a little less crazy than 2020. Light glimmers at the end of the tunnel.

For Netflix subscribers, the end of February means we can look forward to a bunch of new TV shows, movies and Netflix Originals headed to the streaming service soon.

The show I’m looking forward to most next month is the anime adaptation of Valve’s wildly popular PC game, Dota 2. DOTA: Dragon’s Blood. This is not because I’m a fan of the game. In fact, the few times I’ve tried to play this or League of Legends I’ve had a lousy time. Not my cup of tea at all.

But the show actually looks quite good judging by the trailer. The animation is a bit more “Western” than many anime shows. It reminds me a bit of Netflix’s Voltron: Legendary Defender.

That’s not the only cool-looking anime to hit Netflix in March. Mecha face off against monsters in Pacific Rim: The Black, which also looks quite good:

Hybrid live-action drama / documentary The Lost Pirate Kingdom also looks pretty interesting. A glimpse into the history of piracy in the New World, the conflict between England and Spain and the stories of Blackbeard, the Pirate Republic and so forth. Color me intrigued.

Michelle Obama’s Waffles + Mochi kids’ show also debuts in March:

Sounds like a neat show for younger kids and foodie parents.

The new documentary Murder Among The Mormons also sounds pretty fascinating. Ever since I read Under The Banner Of Heaven the often rather sordid history of crime in Mormon-land has intrigued me.

Finally, Pokémon Journeys: The Series will air its fourth and final season next month.

As for movies, March 1st we get quite a few good picks, from Dances With Wolves to Training Deay and Rain Man.

A long list of new and old titles with some fun sounding shows and documentaries, but not much in the way of new Netflix movies. All told, March feels a little slow if you’re not into anime or pirates, but I suppose we’re still feeling some of the ripple effects of last year’s many pandemic-related shutdowns and the general difficulty studios are having producing new content. It’s honestly remarkable that Netflix has kept churning out content—though I’m still bitter about their ridiculous cancellations last year.

What are you looking forward to in March? On Netflix but also elsewhere. Let me know!
