• Drew Barrymore opened up about aging on The Drew Barrymore Show.
  • The 45-year-old actress revealed she has never gotten any plastic surgery on her face and doesn’t plan to get it any time soon.
  • “We’re going to age, and it’s OK, it’s a part of life,” she said.

It’s no secret that Drew Barrymore is obsessed with beauty products. The 45-year-old actress, talk show host, and Flower Beauty founder loves to hold regular beauty-themed weeks on Instagram, where she dishes on the latest products she’s been loving. Though she loves her serums and moisturizers, one anti-aging beauty trick she has steered clear of is getting plastic surgery on her face.

“I’ve never done anything to my face and I would like to try not to,” she told Ross Matthews on The Drew Barrymore Show, but, you know, “never say never.”

She further explained that if she ever started plastic surgery, she would likely go overboard. “I know myself. I’m a highly addictive person. I do one injection, I’m going to look like Jocelyn Wildenstein by Friday,” Barrymore said. (Wildenstein is an American socialite known for having a number of cosmetic procedures.)

Matthews then asked Barrymore if there was a point in her career that solidified her aversion to plastic surgery. “I think because I’m so rebellious that I saw all of that pressure, and I saw all of those women torturing themselves to look a certain way and I thought, ‘You miserable people,’” she replied. “I just never wanted to never be afraid of what life would do to me. I probably went to too many opposite extremes. Now I’m boring and safe and healthy.”

Although she says no to plastic surgery, Barrymore still takes really good care of her complexion with a wide roster of go-to products, including masks, exfoliators, facial oils, eye creams, and plenty of sunscreen.

But even though she’s all about taking care of her skin, her views on aging have changed over time. “I would love if there was some way we could let go and give in to the ride of life a little bit more,” she said. “We’re going to age, things are going to go south, and it’s OK, it’s a part of life. … I feel more human and more vulnerable every year of my life, but I also know how to appreciate every year more and more too,” she added.”

In a 2019 interview with NewBeauty, she also said she’s determined to show her daughters that “aging is a luxury.”

“If we’re lucky, we are all going to age,” she said. “I just want them to be at peace with who they are and not what they look like. If they are good, cool people, that’s all I care about.”
