So Who Should We Believe About When Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles Got Started?

In November, People reported that Wilde and Jason Sudeikis had split early in 2020, but Page Six is now calling that timeline into question.

Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde's burgeoning relationship continues to capture headlines, but the tabloids are still busy piecing together just when they got started—and how it connects to her recent split from ex-fiancé Jason Sudeikis.

Styles and Wilde made more-than-friends debut early this year by holding hands at the wedding of Styles's manager, Jeffrey Azoff. At the time, it was reported that they had only been seeing each other for a few weeks after meeting on the set of their new film Don't Worry Darling, which Wilde is directing; his casting was announced in September. As the costars spent more time together both on and off-set, their friendship “quickly turned romantic” and “their chemistry was very obvious,” according to a source who spoke to People.

This new relationship became public a little over two months after the announcement of Wilde's split from fiancé Jason Sudeikis, which reportedly took place “at the beginning of the year.” At the time, multiple outlets reported that it was an amicable breakup, with Entertainment Tonight quoting a source saying, “If you’re looking for a juicy story, there just isn’t one.”

Page Six, however, begs to differ. According to the outlet's contrarian insiders, Wilde and Styles had in fact been seeing each other as far back as October, and it was their flirtation that actually prompted the breakup between the Booksmart director and Sudeikis, which the sources claim took place in early November.

“Olivia and Jason were having issues, like any other couple, but Jason loves Olivia—he completely adores her, and that’s what makes this so sad. He’s always been committed to making their family work,” a source “close to the couple” said. “People have tried to make out that Harry and Olivia have only been dating for the past few weeks, but that’s not right. Jason found out about Harry and pushed the conversation. Olivia then asked for a separation and news of the split was made public.”

The insider concluded that despite how everything may or may not have gone down between them, “Jason would still do anything for Olivia.”

A representative for Olivia Wilde did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
