Gigi Hadid Reportedly Named Her Daughter Khai After Her Grandmother

After four months of anticipation, Gigi Hadid finally revealed her daughter's name on Thursday night in the ~slyest~ way possible. Without making a big todo, the model simply added, "khai's mom" to her Instagram bio and then she just waited for us to notice.

Of course, we did notice, and it wasn't long before the internet started freaking out over the name. I mean, Khai! How cute? There is more to the story, however. Gigi seemingly picked this name for a reason, and the reported meaning behind it is truly beautiful.

Gigi's paternal grandmother's name was Khairiah Hadid, so while it hasn't been confirmed, many people believe that Khai was named after her great-grandmother. It's also possible that Khai's full name is Khairiah as well.

In a Instagram post from April, Gigi's father, Mohamed Hadid shared how close Gigi was to her grandmother. "My Mom ( Allah Yerhamha ) Khairia Daher Hadid would have been so proud of @gigihadid today," he wrote. "Gigi loved everything about Tata."

Others have pointed out that in Arabic, Khai means "crowned" a fitting name considering Malik, Zayn's last name, means "king." So yeah, this girl is basically royalty.
