Harry Potter star Rupert Grint is considering quitting acting to take up a career as a builder or a carpenter.

The actor, 32, admits his priorities have changed since becoming a first-time dad last year to daughter Wednesday.

Rupert and his girlfriend Georgia Groome welcomed their first child back in May.

Now Rupert has confessed he'd love to turn his back on Hollywood to indulge his passion for DIY by taking up a trade such as building or carpentry.

Speaking to The Sunday Times Magazine, he said: "'I've always toyed with the idea of walking away from acting and becoming a dad has increased those feelings.

"Don't get me wrong, I love working on [the horror series] Servant and feel extremely comfortable in a TV environment.

"But Potter happened at such a young age and I found it hard to deal with the fame side of things..."

He then went on to explain he's good with his hands and dreams of putting his DIY talents to better use.

Rupert added: "It would be nice to go off and do something completely different, like building or carpentry.

"Before lockdown I was always hanging around in B&Q, buying more tools.

"And I've just started my own miniature pottery production line.

"If Wednesday's napping I throw some clay on my wheel and make tiny jugs and bowls."

Rupert goes on to confess he's still not very comfortable being famous but remains "eternally grateful" to the devoted fans of the Harry Potter film series.

However, he enjoys being able to wear a mask out in public now as he feels it gives him some anonymity.

He even joked about getting a face mask printed with his castmate Daniel Radcliffe's image on just for a laugh.

Rupert said: "I do sometimes miss my anonymity. At least lockdown allowed me to wear a mask.

"I did think of having one done with Dan's face on it."
