Congressman Adam Kinzinger has dismissed a call by his House Republican colleague, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, to impeach President-elect Joe Biden once he comes to office next week.
Kinzinger, who represents Illinois' 16th congressional district, criticized Greene for the second day in a row after the freshman representative told Newsmax
she would file articles of impeachment against Biden on the day after he takes the oath of office.
"I would like to announce on behalf of the American people, we have to make sure our leaders are held accountable, we cannot have a President of the United States who is willing to abuse the power of the office of the presidency and be easily bought off by foreign governments, foreign Chinese energy companies, Ukrainian energy companies, so on January 21, I will be filing articles of impeachment on Joe Biden," Greene said.
Greene, who represents Georgia's 14th congressional district, was referencing a number of unsubstantiated allegations about wrongdoing on Biden's part.
President Donald Trump's campaign pushed these claims and allegations about Biden's son, Hunter, during the 2020 presidential election.
"This name will be one forgotten by next January. Politics for fame is headed out the door, the adults will return," Kinzinger tweeted early Thursday in response to a report about Greene's comments.

Kinzinger used similar language about Greene on Wednesday in reply to one of her tweets. Greene had written that "President Trump will remain in office" and that "Democrats must be held accountable for the political violence inspired by their rhetoric."
"These are quite literally the things that incite insurrections," Kinzinger said. "Four years of programming people with this message. This is also quite literally anti-democracy. Let's get rid of this 'DC for fame' culture that this exemplifies."
Greene had not replied to Kinzinger's original criticism on Twitter at the time of writing or his comment on Thursday morning. She had been promoting her call to impeach Biden in several tweets, however.
Kinzinger was one of 10 Republican members of the House who voted in favor of impeaching Trump on Wednesday. The most senior Republican to do so was Congresswoman Liz Cheney of Wyoming, who is House Republican Conference Chair. Greene is one of several GOP representatives to call for Cheney's resignation.
