Houston Methodist hospital, which oversees eight hospitals and has more than 26,000 employees, set a Monday deadline for staffers to get the vaccine or risk suspension and termination. The hospital said Tuesday that 178 full-time or part-time employees, who did not get fully vaccinated and were not granted an exemption or deferral, were suspended for 14 days without pay for not complying with the requirement.
If those suspended do not get vaccinated within the two-week period, they will be terminated, a spokesperson for the hospital told ABC News.Dr. Marc Boom, the president and CEO of Houston Methodist said in a statement nearly 100% of the hospitals staff was compliant with the mandate and 24,947 were fully vaccinated. headtopics.com

“We won't have the final numbers for two weeks as employees can still get vaccinated with their second dose or with the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine,” Boom said. “I wish the number could be zero, but unfortunately, a small number of individuals have decided not to put their patients first.”

People gather to protest Houston Methodist Hospital system's rule of firing any employee who is not immunized by Monday, June 7, 2021, at Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital in Baytown, Texas. The lawsuit cited that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued its first emergency use authorization for COVID-19 in December 2020, but the
vaccinesare awaiting full FDA approval and licensing, which will likely take months for the agency to review additional data. The lawsuit said forcing the plaintiffs to take the vaccine violates public policy in Texas and requested a temporary injunction to prevent the hospital from terminating employees.
Attorney Jared Woodfill, who filed the lawsuit, told ABC News last month that Houston Methodist is forcing employees to get the shot to boost the hospital's profits."To promote its business and increase profits at the expense of other health care providers and their employees' health, Defendants advertise to the public that they 'require all employees and employed physicians to get a COVID-19 vaccine.' More clearly, Defendants' employees are being forced to serve as human 'guinea pigs' to increase Defendants' profits," Woodfill said."It is a severe and blatant violation of the Nuremberg Code and the public policy of the state of Texas."

arrest them. 178 dumbasses gone. 👏🏽 I support the policy of hospitals for full vaccination- my husband has health issues and when going to clinics for treatments. I want to know that the workers care more for him then their selves I'll never understand the logic behind working in Healthcare but refusing to get vaccinated. Why work in science if you refuse to believe it?
Good hope that they lose there jobs they are on the front line and should know the importance of the shot Noone should be forced especially due to the jab injuries. I can see many more of these sort of actions becoming the norm. I could be wrong. Honestly, if a health care professional isn’t willing to be vaccinated then I wouldn’t want them making decisions about my well being.
They must to be fired.. There are a number of vaccine requirements healthcare workers have always had. Did they complain about those? Good.. KNOW YOUR ALLIES KNOW YOURSELF KNOW YOUR ENEMIES KNOW EVIL School of the Americas – AKA “School Of Assassins.” CAUSE & EFFECT, REAPING WHAT YOU SOW
Houston hospital suspends 178 employees who refused Covid-19 vaccineNearly 25,000 of Houston Methodist’s staff members have been fully inoculated against Covid-19 as part of a vaccination requirement announced in April. Nuremberg Nazi trials outlawed forcing people to be experimented on. Too bad, so sad 😊 First of all you work in health care so this should be a no brainer. HOWEVER..... Welcome to Texas, a right to work State. If the State of Texas decides to get involved they will be opening up a HUGE can of worms for themselves.
88SEATTLE61 Texas… No Unvaccinated caretakers around patients. Period !!! Their lawsuit was dismissed. nice We know On every us dollar says 'in God we trust' aren't people allowed to whole heartedly trust in God?Why create segregation trying to force something on someone.FDA has recalled even tylenol for babies so the science is not always right but everyone act as if they cant be wrong.
The hospital made the right call. It is so sad that there has to be a mandate for people working in and with the medical profession to be vaccinated. Hospitals absolutely do have an obligation to the health of the community it serves to do the right thing. Good. Too bad!! At least you don’t have to wait three months like I did. I had CoVID19. I would much rather suffer from sore arms for a few days as opposed to being ill with CoVID for 6 weeks+! My husband and I lost a classmate to Covid and it was very hard on me!!
Houston hospital suspends 178 employees who refused Covid-19 vaccinationNearly 25,000 of Houston Methodist's staff members have been fully inoculated against Covid-19 as part of a vaccination requirement announced in April. Let the labor free markets work GOP ormis this some exception for you? Please allow the 178 of 25,000 employees look for work elsewhere. This is still America. In our capitalist system, business make the rules and employees decide where they want to work. Good Good for the business. You know better and if you don't care for yourself. Old people living in those hospitals so find a trump hospital work there and kill everybody in there. On you.
Good for the hospital! I hope they stay defiant and lose their jobs! Getting the vaccine is about choice. If they choose to get suspended, that's their right!! Good! Now they can quarantine them selves, because I'm one hundred percent sure they have been in contact with people who are carrying the virus.
Good Let them get sick, then maybe they will realize the need only if not to late..... People have died from this... What does it take, that praverbial rock to fall on them..? 666 They should be fired. Their jobs requires the flu vaccine. Period. They are medical personnel and should not think twice about getting a Covid shot just like an flu shot.
Texas land of the free.
India data revision results in world’s highest daily Covid-19 death tollMany experts believe India’s death toll is several times higher than the official number. The previous world record was 5,527 in the US on February 12, also due to an upwards revision of earlier deaths. Unfortunately that's a big number but India is a huge population, what is percentage and percentile data?
Staffers has to be fired not suspended If you work in the medical field you need to trust the science and technology available. Including vaccines. I can see why they were fired because that’s putting their high risk patients at risk and patients should feel safe at hospitals. No jab, no job! Get over it!
10× infiniti🥰🥰🥰 👍 Restaurants need workers $2.15/hour, no benefits. Welk Fine Do nudists have to wear clothes to the office? Must you wear safety protective items to a construction site? You betcha. If something is mandated by your workplace, comply or go elsewhere. Send those 178 staffers the new article in Scientific American on killer fungus…
This is their prerogative and it makes sense to me as it protects patients.
U.S. to Donate 500 Million Covid-19 Vaccine Doses to Lower-Income CountriesThe Biden administration expects 200 million Pfizer doses will go to other countries this year and 300 million more across the first half of 2022. They will be donated through the Covax global initiative. You’re welcome world! Should donate the Johnson and Johnson vaccine so that are about to expire in 30 days! На, тебе боже, что мне негоже. Accept from me, my God, that is useless for me.
good, i hope they fire them. they r not qualified for the job if they do not understand modern medicine YellowR74317218 Good Good. They made their choice COVIDIOTS Good !!! They all must be republicans That's good. Healthcare workers have no right to endanger the patients in the care. Good I suppose that clown Abbott will pass a law saying they can't do that If I was a patient I wouldn't want some unvaxxed person hanging over me
Do the health workers also refuse the flu vaccine each year? I don't understand the difference. Texas Land of the Free home of the brave My cousin died of COVID contracted in a hospital. “If you can do no good, first do no harm.”
Covid-19: 'Our wedding changed more times than I can count'Couples set to get married and the wedding industry face an anxious wait for restrictions to ease.
Good. It’s nobody’s business who has a vaccine and who doesn’t, stop acting like you have some moral high ground and mind your own damn business. MyBodyMyChoice How many people get their prescriptions each day and toss away the disclosure info attached to each bag. The one stating possible side effects I bet everyone, you just open that bottle and put the pills in your mouth. But the slimmest side effect of vaccine scares you.
Texas needs to be its own country. Place is nuts. Good! This stuff here is crazy!! How are they going to fill those positions? Texas and Florida need to merge to become the Dumb As Fuck Nation. Good. Hospital defying their idiot Governor. Fantastic.
Ocugen to file for full U.S. approval of COVID-19 shot instead of EUAOcugen Inc (OCGN.O) said on Thursday it would no longer pursue an emergency use authorization for its COVID-19 vaccine candidate, Covaxin, and would instead aim to file for a full U.S. approval of the shot.
Good! Thank you for speaking truth to power and putting the health, wellbeing and safety of staff, patients and visitors above politics and science deniers!❤️❤️❤️ good The right and responsible thing to do. Zero tolerance. This story gets me so hard. I love nothing more then ignorant people being shown how ignorant they are. I heard a woman say 'Its like, if we dont get the shot, they will fire us.' Yes, yes thats exactly right you worthless human waste. Get the vaccine or gtfoh.
Like abortionists used to say, my body my choice. Bravo! Good. I worked IT at a hospital. I had to get a flu shot every year. I had to be tested for TB. I had to have a hepititus c shot. These requirements were for the safty of the patients. If you do not care about Patient safty you seek other employment.
Insane! Health care workers with no care about healthcare! Awesome!
Out of nearly 25,000 employees in the system If people believe that getting the vaccine is a risk to their life, they should chose their life over a patients life. At the end of the day, those patients will still get care. Bye 👋 people forget that jobs do need to keep you employed, the same way you don’t have to stay working. Simple jobs are “at will”
I fully support Houston Methodist Hospital's decision to take action against employees who refuse the vaccine. Friend CAN'T take the vaccine bcuz she had 6 shingles outbreaks after that vaccine. But employees who refuse bcuz they OD on Hannity/FOX - it's another matter. ABC News your headline should be, “Health Workers suspended for refusal to protect their patients by taking the vaccine”.
Fire'em. No Unvaccinated staff around patients. Someday an Idiot will ask for a vCard while choking To those 178 who are violating their oaths to protect those they look after... After being in the ER sitting in a hall side by side with strangers and nurses with masks on their chins it's quite obvious even most healthcare staff know this is all a jaox designed to control or cover up corruption.
I trust science but what should I do when those very close to it start to mumble sth odd?
It’s lunacy to serve in an occupation that is intended to serve physically at risk people yet determinedly exposing them to a deadly disease because you won’t submit to a jab. even they don't trust the industry. rebuildtrust This is more like communism. The vaccine trials in animals stopped because they all died. Humans are now the trials.
HIPPA laws prevent this!! I don't understand why there are adult people with such retrograde thoughts and as a child, refusing what can save their lives and avoid being taken and admitted to an ICU, intubated and their families waiting for them to be saved. Leave so much cheap and childish stupidity!🤷🏻♂️🤦🏽♂️
Suspended without pay I hope. They are required to get TB vaccinations, this is just a result of politics muddying the water. Dumb. Good Good. I hope they all lose their jobs. I'm all for anti-vaxxers saying they don't want anyone to tell them what to do with their bodies. Just as long as they give women the same right.
It’s a private hospital number one plus a religious based hospital at that. You have a lot more flexibility legally speaking as a private company. Tennessee does not require probable cause terminate but not sure about Texas. StevenTDennis That would be like being a police officer and refusing to take a background check. FIRED!
Maybe they know something others don't know. Republican and Fox News downplay of COVID is to blame. Health care facilities need to keep their waiting room TV channels OFF Fox News. Good. It’s unethical to work in healthcare and not vaccinate one's self. Dumb asses Good!!
