'We emphasize the need for sportsmanship,' said the executive director of the Iowa High School Athletic Association after the fight.

The 17-year-old Carlisle High School player is facing a Class C felony charge and has been arrested following an attack at the end of his team's game against Nevada High School. Ashowed the teams shaking hands with each other when suddenly, the student punches a Nevada student in the stomach. The Nevada player was then allegedly punched two more times before his teammates pulled him away.

"It was a very unfortunate and disturbing situation," said Steve Gray, the Nevada Community School District Superintendent."Fortunately, it sounds like our student-athlete is going to be alright." The organization is also stressing that student-athletes maintain professionalism and sportsmanship, both on and off the court.
