Bella Hadid Pays Homage to a ’90s Cult-Favorite Animated Series

Bella Hadid has recently been transformed into an avatar. Just this week the model had her body scanned by Thierry Mugler’s artistic director Casey Cadwallader to wear the newest collection in a CGI format. Call it a coincidence, but it only makes sense that to celebrate the digi-moment that Hadid would step out wearing a t-shirt boasting the character Aeon of Aeon Flux, a futuristic and oddly sexy dystopian animated ’90s television series. Aeon, somewhat of a humanoid in her own right, was smack dab on a pink shirt Hadid wore with a black cardigan and a denim jacket and oversize black pants.

While Hadid isn’t a cartoon assassin, she does resemble Aeon in an abstract way: the two both perpetually show their midriff and favor flesh-baring outfits. And while Hadid was born in 1996, a year after the series ended, and maybe has never seen it, she still has a piece of collectable merch on her hands. Those vintage Aeon Flux pieces are hard to come by and extremely expensive. Fans, hold onto your t-shirts!
