When your baby is hungry, they're usually quick to let you know. But whether you're breastfeeding or formula feeding, you're likely on the hunt for the best baby bottles.

Here's the inside scoop: avoid buying too many of any one bottle at the beginning, says Jenelle Ferry, MD, a neonatologist and director of feeding, nutrition, and infant development at Pediatrix Medical Group in Tampa, Florida. Her suggestion? Experiment with a few different brands and see if your baby has a preference.

As a helpful rule of thumb, most babies should start with a slow flow, flexible nipple, especially if they're breastfeeding, Dr. Ferry says. "Using a nipple with a flow that is too fast may increase both the amount of milk your baby drinks, which can lead to overfeeding, and the amount of air he or she swallows, which can lead to fussiness or gas."

Additionally, you want a bottle that's easy to use and clean. "With a new baby, you'll be low on time and sleep, so it's important to pick a bottle you can easily assemble and fill," Dr. Ferry explains. "Also consider the ease of washing or transporting bottles, depending on how and where you will be using them," she adds.

Luckily, we've done the hard part for you and rounded up the seven best baby bottles, according to parents and a pediatrician. Cheers!

Best Overall Baby Bottle

Dr. Brown's Natural Flow Bottle ($25)

This baby bottle has nearly 40,000 ratings on Amazon with parents and caregivers praising it for its ease of use, anti-colic mechanism, and close-nipple resemblance. "I like that the Dr. Brown's Natural Flow Bottle has a nipple that mirrors what an actual nipple looks like, so switching between bottle feeding and nursing is seamless," Haley Sloan, a new mom of twins tells POPSUGAR. "Since I didn't nurse until two months in, it helped to have my babies eat from a nipple-like shape, and the Dr. Brown bottles reduce the amount of air going down the baby's throat, helping to eliminate the potential for gas and baby discomfort." The bottles are also packable and easy to hook up to a pump, making it one less item to clean, she adds.

Tommee Tippee Closer To Nature Bottle ($22)

Tommee Tippee is a brand favorite among new parents, and this model is their most "breast-like bottle." It's made from skin-like silicone to provide baby with a familiar comfort. "When my daughter was born, I ordered a few different bottles to try and she gravitated toward the Tommee Tippee Closer To Nature Bottle ($22) immediately," new mom, Jamie Bernstein tells POPSUGAR. "I love that they don't have too many parts to keep track of, they're easy to clean, and the tops come off easily, which was not the case with some of the others we tried." The anti-colic valve also reduces excessive air flow, so your babe ingests more milk and less air. Bonus: the anti-static silicone is odor and stain resistant.

Best Silicone Baby Bottle

Best Silicone Baby Bottle

Comotomo Baby Bottle ($13)

If you're looking for a non-plastic option, the Comotomo baby bottle is one of Dr. Ferry's go-to's. When it comes to silicone-based bottles, "silicone doesn't stain, and won't stink quite the same as plastic can, and the bottle is easily washable," she says. "Many parents also say this bottle rarely leaks," she adds. The nipple is designed to mimic breastfeeding to reduce bottle rejection and nipple confusion, and the wide opening and minimal pieces make cleaning a breeze.

Best Baby Bottle For Pumping

Kiinde Twist Squeeze Bottle ($16)

For mommas who pump, this squeeze bottle lets you pump, store, and feed with the same pouch. You pump milk directly into the storage bag, place the bag into the bottle frame, pop on a nipple, and feed your baby! "We've been using the Kiinde Twist Squeeze Bottle as I've recently gone back to work and the bags I pump into snap directly into the 'bottle' so there's literally no cleaning actual bottles," new mom, Tyraah Hopper tells POPSUGAR. "The bag pops out when you're done and the only thing to clean is the nipple, which is amazing as well because they are wide set, not dome shaped, and my son took to it right away," she adds. The anti-colic bottle is also designed to eliminate milk transfers and reduce air intake during feedings.

Lansinoh Breastfeeding Bottle ($18)

If you're looking for a vented, controlled flow nipple, Dr. Ferry recommends the Lansinoh Breastfeeding Bottle. Parents often find babies latch easily to this nipple, and the NaturalWave design avoids nipple confusion for breastfed babies, she adds. Plus, the built-in air ventilation system reduces air intake, in turn, reducing potential causes of gas and discomfort.

"I love the MAM Easy Start Anti Colic Bottle as a primarily breastfeeding new mom," mom, Jessica Mendelson tells POPSUGAR. "These are the only bottles my daughter will accept, and bonus for me, there are less pieces to clean than some of the other bottles we've tried."

Philips Avent Natural Baby Bottle ($30)

The Philips Avent Natural Baby Bottle has a wide, breast-shaped nipple designed to closely mimic the latch shape for breastfeeding, Dr. Ferry says. "The Avent natural nipple spiral design helps to allow for flexibility and decrease nipple collapse, which may help reduce the amount of air a baby swallows with feeding," she explains. The bottle only releases milk when baby is actively drink, reduce the risk of self-overfeeding.
