Fresh off the release of her new EP Bridges, country songstress Mickey Guyton shined at the 2020 ACM Awards with her searing performance of “What Are You Gonna Tell Her” alongside Keith Urban Wednesday night (Sept. 16).
The single, which initially caused tremors in the country community earlier this year, remains as powerful and buoyant as when it was first released. With Urban on piano duties, Guyton floated through her empowering anthem with her mind set on inspiring women in need of a major breakthrough.
“This song is a call to action,” she told CMT last March. “We are all so obviously very much so aware of the problems with the lack of women being played on country radio and just getting played period in country music and getting signed, whether it’s publishers or anything. It’s a really, really hard position to be in. And I’ve been dealing with so many issues as being a woman for so long and I wanted to write about it.”
Guyton’s six-track EP Bridges was released last Friday (Sept. 11).
