TL;DR:

  • What It Is: A facial mist made with turmeric root extract
  • What It Does: Reduces inflammation and irritation from breakouts
  • Who It's For: Anyone with acne-prone skin who could use a little relief and refreshment

Maskne is real. If you don't believe it, take it from me. My chin and cheeks have been breaking out like out of control ever since we've been required to wear facial coverings. Don't get me wrong — I'm not complaining about having to wear a mask to stay protected and safe, but I hate having to deal with he breakouts that come with it. Since the pandemic first started, I've been trying to figure out a way soothe my breakouts, and folks, I found it and it starts with the Neutrogena Soothing Clear Turmeric Mist.

I know what you're thinking: "Angela, how the hell does a mist help acne?" Well, my friends, this isn't just any mist. This facial mist is formulated with turmeric, which, if you didn't know, has antioxidants that help calm the skin. When pimples start to form, the skin is inflamed, so a little bit of turmeric will help that breakout calm down. "Turmeric can prevent conditions, including skin redness, hair loss, and cardiovascular disease, which are caused by inflammation," according to Kavita Mariwalla, a board-certified dermatologist in West Islip, New York.

The way I use this mist is simple: Before I put my mask on to go outside, I spritz my skin. The nozzle evenly distributes the liquid all over my face with just two or three squirts. I then put my mask on and proceed with my day. I should point out, the mist does have turmeric smell, but it isn't too strong or overwhelming — just a bit of a fresh spice scent.

Now, I don't know where you are, but here in New York City, we are in the midst of summer heat, so another thing I like to do is bring the mist with me if I'm taking a walk for some fresh air. When my skin is feeling a little thirsty or dry, I hit it with a few spritzes, and I get a natural-looking glow.
