In a 328 to 97 vote, the House of Representatives on Tuesday rejected an amendment by Representative Cori Bush (D-Mo.) that would have allowed individuals serving a felony prison sentence to vote in federal elections.

Prisoners not being able to vote, but being counted as part of a community’s population, will never make sense to me. If they’re counted, they should vote. If they can’t vote, they shouldn’t be counted. (Low key? Most prisoners probably need to be freed and restored anyway). I asked myself 'Why' and then I decided its because more people of color are behind bars. The fact that alot of them are there for crimes for which whites would never be required to serve time simply does not compute. It's going to take time. We need an instructional strategy.
