To All The Boys 2: P.S. I Still Love You has fans wondering what is going to happen next to Lara Jean Covey and Peter Kavinsky as they start their new relationship together and finally make things official. However, with her old crush John Ambrose back in town, things are clearly not going to be super easy for this new couple. All of a sudden they find themselves in a huge love triangle and the two guys end up going head-to-head for Lara Jean's heart. While fans of the book might have thought that they knew everything that was going to happen before watching the movie, things don't always make it to the big screen when they adapt books to film. Some of them might be super subtle, while others may feel super different if you're a huge fan of the books.
Here are all the differences between the To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You book versus the movie...

The Beginning of the Movie is Not the Beginning of the Book
While it does seem like it would make sense to kick things off for Peter and Lara Jean right at the beginning of their relationship, the second book actually includes some of the drama that we see in the first movie. Specifically, the hot tub drama seen in the first film actually comes from the second book. The movie actually starts off several chapters into book two.
Where Peter and LJ Go On Their First Date is Super Different
Peter took Lara Jean to a nice Italian restaurant before Lara Jean takes over and brings Peter to a Japanese lantern festival. Meanwhile, in the books, their first date was a lot more chill. Peter actually took LJ to his favorite spot, Biscuit Soul Food, and they also watched a movie together.
Their New Contract is Missing
Remember that contract that they both signed when they started fake dating? Well, Lara Jean and Peter actually made a new one before they made things official in the books. However, in the movie, the contract is not mentioned at all. Also, Peter and Lara Jean promise not to break each other's hearts at the lantern festival. Meanwhile, they promise that in the new contract.
Josh Isn't Around Anymore
Remember Josh? Well, in the books he still hangs out with Lara Jean and he even has a new girlfriend. However, he is totally missing from the second movie without any explanation as to why. Maybe he'll make a comeback in the third film?
Lara Jean and John Ambrose Aren't Pen Pals
In the movie, Lara Jean is surprised to get a response from John Ambrose to her secret love letter that Kitty sent out in the first film. In the books, LJ and John Ambrose have kept in touch over the years and are actually pen pals.
Stormy Isn't John Ambrose's Grandmother
While the movie stays true to the book by having Lara Jean volunteering at Belleview, Stormy is a completely different character in the books. She's actually John Ambrose's grandmother, although, it's not revealed until later in the book.
John Ambrose Doesn't Volunteer at Belleview
Although John Ambrose and Lara Jean seem to bond over their volunteering experience at Belleview in the film, the book actually has them suddenly seeing each other when he comes to visit his grandma one day.
The Star Ball Doesn't Happen
Lara Jean and John Ambrose's relationship finally takes a turn at the Star Ball when the two share a kiss outside in the snow. However, in the books, the Star Ball actually doesn't happen. It's not until John and Lara Jean run away together after running into Peter and Gen that the two share a kiss.
Assassins is Completely Missing
Lara Jean and her friends actually play a giant game of Assassins throughout the book, which makes her go against Gen. However, it's completely cut from the movie. The game was also the way that LJ found out about Peter meeting with Gen before his lacrosse game, while Lara Jean finds out through Chris in the movie.
