Janet Jackson has pretty much seen and done it all. Her trophy cabinet has more silverware than a foundry. Grammys, Billboard Awards, MTV Awards. She’s sold millions, acted, played stadiums.
Though, until now, she’s never performed any of her standards with classroom instruments for late-night TV. On Wednesday night’s The Tonight Show Well, she ticked that off her to-do list.
Jackson sang along with host Jimmy Kimmel (wood block, bass drum), Questlove (kick drum, hand clappers) and The Roots for an unusual rendition of her 1995 hit “Runaway.”
Earlier this week, the pop legend announced her Black Diamond World Tour, in support of her forthcoming twelfth studio album.
The first leg of the global trek will kick off June 24 at Miami’s American Airlines Arena.
