As guests of the 2020 Grammy Awards arrive on the red carpet for showtime, we either sit back and admire some of what will be some of the most stunning beauty looks of the year so far or we sit back and watch like we are Heidi Klum judging on Project Runway. I mean, let's be real — the Grammys are known for some of the most outrageous beauty moments in award-show history. While tonight is all about the music, here at Allure (as you can imagine), we focus more on the beauty. The most elite makeup artists, hairstylists, manicurists, and aestheticians plan for months on end to get their muses and our favorite celebrities ready for the show, ensuring they look their very best for the red carpet or the stage.
Let's take a look back at the 2019 Grammys for reference, shall we? Lady Gaga took to the stage to perform wearing crystal eyeliner, courtesy of none other than her longtime makeup artist and friend Sarah Tanno; Cardi B wore a pearl updo and magenta eyes thanks to makeup artist Erika La' Pearl and hairstylist Tokyo Stylez; and we can never forget our latest digital cover star, Tracee Ellis Ross, and her Rapunzel-length hair. It's safe to say we can expect to see nothing but the best and boldest looks at this year's Grammys, too.
All those looks require major prep work and, lucky for us, many stars share a sneak peek behind the scenes well before the red carpet starts. Here's how all of your favorite attendees, performers, and presenters got all glammed up for the show.
Cardi B
The Bodak Yellow singer shared a quick pre-Grammys getting-ready video on Instagram Stories, in which she's wearing a full face of stunning sultry makeup and having her hair combed. Based on how the look is going so far, we can't wait to see the finished results on the red carpet tonight.
Lizzo
Lizzo is always one to watch, but with a whopping eight nominations under her belt this year, eyes will be on her more than ever. Naturally, she's feeling good today and posted a hilarious Instagram Story to prove it. In the clip, which she originally posted on TikTok, she's shown touching up her blush in the mirror while singing along to a Lil Wayne song. We can't wait to see her bring it tonight.
Alicia Keys
To relax before the big night, the 2020 Grammy Awards host started her day off with some meditation. Keys shared the tranquil moment on her Instagram Stories with the caption, "starting the day off right."
