Authorities said there was a reported shooting around 3:18 p.m. in the parking lot of the B&I Public Marketplace in the 8000 block of S Tacoma Way. Dispatch received several reports of shots being fired. One of the callers was a parent who said their 10-year-old child had been hit by a bullet. According to Lakewood police, the child was sitting in a vehicle when the bullet grazed their head. Police said the child was an unintended, innocent victim.
The child suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Mary Bridge Children's Hospital for further treatment.Authorities said there were multiple reports of an argument or disturbance in the parking lot prior to the gunshots. The people involved in said argument are unknown to police at this time. It’s also unknown if the gunshots were random or intended for a person involved in the argument, police said.

Search Continues for Missing Hiker on Mount Baldy, Three Others RescuedThe search continues for a missing hiker on Mount Baldy while crews rescued three other lost hikers a day after the first was reported missing. The missing hiker, identified as 22-year-old Lisei Huang from El Monte, was reported missing Feb. 4. According to authorities, Huang went out for a solo hike that day around 2 p.m. and by 11 p.m., her loved ones had not heard from her. Crews began searching for Huang in the early morning hours Monday and Tuesday amid severe winter weather conditions. Authorities said the search was eventually suspended over avalanche risks. The search will resume when weather conditions improve, and it is safe for crews, the sheriff's department said. The following day, crews rescued three experienced hikers who got lost on the Bear Canyon Trail on Mount Baldy. According to authorities, the three lost hikers were found at 8,400-ft. elevation after a four-hour search.
