So, as predicted by Sage back in early March, the attempt to suppress the spread of coronavirus has simply led to a large Second Wave in the Autumn/Winter. Our original policy of flattening the curve at the peak to prevent the NHS from being swamped turned lazily into an extended lockdown to keep the spread low, with no plan for how to bring the crisis to an end other than the Micawber Strategy: “Something will turn up”.
