Jordan Henderson, Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka got the goals to secure England's place in the quarter-finals, where they will meet 2018 champions France.

England cruised past Senegal 3-0 in their first World Cup knockout match, with a mouth-watering clash against holders France awaiting them in the last eight.

Two quick-fire goals - the first from Jordan Henderson, the second from Harry Kane - put Gareth Southgate's side in control going into the half-time break, after what had been a nervy start at the Al Bayt Stadium in Qatar. Senegal, the African Cup of Nations champions, had chances to open the scoring and forced a fine save from goalkeeper Jordan Pickford before his namesake Henderson struck in the 38th minute.

But the second half was far more comfortable for the Three Lions, and Arsenal's young star Bukayo Saka scored his third goal of the tournament in the 57th minute to rubber-stamp the victory. Kane's goal in first-half added time means he has now scored 11 goals at major tournaments, seven in the World Cup and four in the Euros, overtaking Gary Lineker as England's all-time top scorer in major tournaments.helped the 2018 winners see off Poland in the earlier Sunday game.

Too late on this one today..reporting news on the match that was live and the entire world was literally watching 5hours late!!?

Jude deserved the best player of the match not Kane.

All bets are on for France to kick england's ass

Anti UK shillivision channel.. go operate from your own country

No need for England to worry about France...they’ve already shown tonight what they are capable of doing when taking on a team of Africans...

That’d be novel for an England side blessed with the kindest of draws at every tournament. Yet to beat anybody above 18th in world at this WC. They’d have to beat 3 sides in top 10 to win it. Couldn’t beat the 16th in world in group stages.

Amazing insight. Who’d of thought

What a scholar 🤣

It is a very exciting prospect. Should be a cracking match. Massive step up.

Although England won 3-0 and yes, congratulations; but their performance overall in this game was very lacking. They will have to raise their game against France for sure!!

Did he say it's a 'must win' Mr Obvious

Don’t stand a chance.

C’mon England

Tell us something we don't know 🤣

They'll be home by next weekend 😂😂😂😂😂

Great win

Redemption on the cards for Bukayo Saka and Marcus Rashford as England eye World Cup gloryRedemption on the cards for Bukayo Saka and Marcus Rashford as England eye World Cup glory WorldCup QatarWorldCup2022 FIFAWorldCup2022 What a ridiculous headline. They shouldn’t have to “redeem” themselves. They did their best and don’t owe anyone anything! Would expect such a headline from The Daily Mail! 🙄 Why do they need 'Redemption'? They delivered a lot of the goals that allowed England to reach the finals. Please do not play into the main media hands. You are meant to be the voice of the African Heritage/Black Community in the UK. From what are they being redeemed? They've been excellent. Please review your headline.
