A pensioner who killed a pedestrian she failed to notice crossing the road has been handed a suspended prison sentence.
Both Foey and members of Mr Blofeld's family were allowed to leave the court as distressing footage showing the moment of impact was played in court. In the footage, Mr Blofeld could be seen stepping out to walk across the road and being hit by Foey's Kia Picanto moments later on April 28, 2022. Defending, Lee Hughes said Foey had no previous convictions and had never been involved in any driving offence or even a crash of any sort before this. He said she was deeply sorry for what happened and has struggled to cope in the aftermath and has not been able to forgive herself.
"Because it's clear to me that Mr Blofeld set about crossing the road without checking what cars were coming and in circumstances it's clear to me that the only way of crossing the road was if a vehicle stopped and allowed him to cross."
