Already widely used in China, facial recognition payment is now expanding in other countries.

, are we all going to be using it within a few years' time? And, are there data security and privacy issues that we should worry about?

PopID is based in Los Angeles, and is now used by about 70 independent restaurants and cafes across a handful of US cities, mainly on the West Coast. The firm's chief executive John Miller says: "Our view is that using your face to pay is no different [than using your phone]. Some 7,000 miles away, in the Chinese city of Guangzhou, another student has facial payment technology on her mind. Ling says that it is now the only way to buy food from the vending machine in her accommodation block at Sun Yat-sen University.

Alipay is spending three billion yuan over three years, and according to Chinese state media, 760 million people will be using facial recognition payments by next year.

No.

How about we replace those in charge instead..

'Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead'

I thought of giving my ideas for this- in order to have the security, I feel we can combine Iris (eye) recognition or fingerprint recognition, also we have to think about doppelgängers, identical twins while considering facial recognition.

Let's revisit this 'conspiracy theory' and see what came true!

And when your face doesn't fit?

In not sticking my face on a pdq! Headbut here to pay?

No one's going to swipe my face!

Facist

Broadcasting on Behalf of China

I'm too sexy for my card, sexy for my card cards going to lead me. 🎶 😁 RightSaidFred music

No thanks.

No good when we’re all wearing masks in shops! Already have to wait for my facial Rec on my contactless to decline so I can type my pin in...easier to have used card in the first place!

How about personalised bank notes with selfies on, could print them ourselves🤣🤣

I don’t like the idea of having my face stuck in a machine & having to wait 3 days for a new one .. fuck that.

Face recognition doesn't work when you're wearing a mask! 😂

New World Order! 😬😬🙈🙈

Facial recognition software so far only recognizes white people. The nerds making this need to figure some shit out before they even try bringing this to the public

Interesting how his method is reforming the reliability of biometric fingerprints. I guess in countries where there are some fractions alleging electoral rigging this technology will go a long way in addressing electoral fraud than using pens and biometric ink.

WEAR YOUR MASK

Erm, no thanks. Btw, how the hell is that meant to work when we all have to wear masks to the shops cos plague?! 🙄🤪

Great , can't wait for the day my face is declined

It’s a fucking nonsense . Why do I need to have to prove who I am anyway ffs. It’s always someone else who says they are afraid to tell me something. Wtf are they afraid. It’s me who has to suffer it. Fuck em and their law.

Aye, but sometimes I'm lazy & give himself the bank card to go to the shop FOR me. Having to peel off my face & give him that instead everytime I want teabags & milk, is going to be tiresome indeed

I’ve seen Mission Impossible. I’ll pass on it thanks. 🤖 🏦

How to build system even less secure than fingerprint.

garethicke thoughts

There's a Japanese shop that does facial masks that are so realistic they could be used for fraud. No need for it faces can change which fools the fallible facial recognition.

Identical twins be like ...

🚩

'I feel like technology is moving so fast that people don't even think twice about using something like this.' Hence there are rising issues related to cyber crime and cyber defence. We should encourage greater awareness, NOT ignorance and casual acceptance.

Speaking as someone who has been rejected at the e-gates at an airport because it's facial recognition got confused: no thank you!

Isn't it strange not hearing about masked gunmen robbing them anymore

How will that work when you have to wear a mask all the time 🤔

Hows that going to work with Women? Pre-make up and post make they'll all need to be two faced....Oh wait. [jk btw :) ]

But, but my head wont fit in the slot at the ATM 🙀

That's interesting.

Just another way to remove cash from society

First step to inserting a microchip in the wrist like a dog is microchipped so it can be tracked. Also a person's face changes over time so how much will it cost you to keep updating the registered photograph? This idea needs rejecting! Anyone who agrees with this idea is a fool!

No

With masks?

Which is a integral part of linking biological id to online id and a financial system reset towards an orwelluak abuse control system

I CBA with this shit.

WHUT Epically dumb idea.

Thought masks where here to stay.
