In a classic case of gaslighting, Michael underlined his ongoing behaviour further by saying to Anton while Amber and Joanna were together, “she could twist things in the way she’ll fill Joanna’s head with a load of rubbish”. He continued that she may try and play Joanna off against him and his image could be “tarnished”, yet it’s blatantly apparent that the only one using these underhand tactics has been Michael himself.
Twitter user @ivyredrose posted: “Michael won’t even acknowledge how his actions have hurt Amber and continues to talk badly about her, though it’s clear she is upset. Did he ever care about her? It’s fine to recouple but why is he beating her down continuously when she stayed loyal to him?” Drawing parallels to real dating life outside the villa, @GN5213867 underlines, “To see how gaslighting and misogyny is so normalised amongst the men in that villa. Ouf, it’s a lot, and so so familiar”.
Returning after their girls’ chat, Amber told her pals that Joanna is nice, and thankfully is confident enough to know she herself hasn’t done anything wrong.
From this I’m taking all men are evil and none of the Love Island men can do anything right. I don’t agree with half of this article. I can see why Michael critiqued Amber as she did exhibit most of the qualities and Curtis was honest to Amy it just wasn’t what she wanted
