Up to now govt/scientists have ignored what’s happening abroad and said wearing masks little use, stay inside. Now they want to pursued ppl to go out and spend; so they’ve changed advice to wear masks.
The Tories made a mess of supplying PPE to the NHS & they were worried about the public making shortages worse. This is why they always say 'face coverings' & never 'masks'. Hancock has even said it in a few interviews. Now that supplies are better, the science has changed.
