A number of global airlines are still running passenger flights amid the coronavirus pandemic.

That's difficult to find out, but you can check at any airport's website to see how many planes are flying in and out at any given time.

When the BBC checked Heathrow Airport - heathrow.com/departures - on Monday morning, for instance, there were flights scheduled in the following hour or so to Dublin, Copenhagen, Bahrain, Manchester, Helsinki, Amsterdam, Warsaw, Madrid, Hamburg, Moscow, Barcelona, Doha, Berlin, Paris, Kuala Lumpur, Valencia, Boston and Stockholm.

You can also see at-a-glance live data of how many flights are in the air at any one time through flight tracker website flightradar24.com. But many flights you see in the sky will be cargo planes. The amount of cargo handling via Heathrow Airport has doubled in recent days, it told the BBC.For example, two-fifths of the UK's pharmaceutical products such as medicines, vaccines and respirators are imported via Heathrow Airport.

They going to the warehouse airfields to be grounded. leaving important areas ready for mercy flights

Because the roads aren’t wide enough for them.

Because government allows them to fly. Simple.

And Ferries from France.... still operating and those driving off the ferry at Dover not being check? I spoke to someone yesterday that took a delivery from France to the UK and said he wasn’t challenged at all at Dover. !!

People are probably still going on holiday!! Because it’s ok the Uk government will spend £ 75 million to bring them back home!!

Because we are an island! Food, goods etc and bringing UK residents home

Gotta get home somehow!

Supplies ,and i need 1 for my new bike delivery 😁

Am just wondering,

Pilots getting £50 000 a flight.

I’m no expert but I think ifs something to do with thrust and aerodynamics

We have 11 import case from UK yestefay. All quarantined.

BBCWorld Good thing that some of them are still flying.

Polluting for no reason, the American way

Well not many are... that’s the problem!!!

BBCWorld Its called commerce

BBCWorld Planes fly because of “lift”

Better up there than down here...

BBCWorld Scientist are also humans right they must be quarantined.

With enough thrust to overcome the drag and produce lift, then planes stay in the air. This diagram will explain it.

BBCWorld Lift and thrust?

Cos they have wings

It’s really odd, loads of flights still coming and going but we can’t go out more than once to walk the dog. I was amazed at how many flights were on Flightradar24

Because they take off.

We are trying to scoop up our citizens! 🇨🇦

To bring back all the Brits who are demanding to be repatriated. How many tourists and how many who live abroad - we are not being told.

More dicks on here! You can tell people are bored witless!

BBCWorld They die if they’re not in motion.

Because they can’t work from home.

It's what they're designed for, isn't it?

England need to shut the Borders for a Few month’s

BBCWorld I wondered that, take a look at Flight Radar the sky's are full of aircraft. Last night there were a number of flights between Lhr and JFK and vice versa. Now unless I missed a meeting I thought had all stoped. Somebody fill me in

BBCWorld Good post

Because we are a not self sustaining and rely on the world!! Oh not forgetting a thing called repatriation

BBCWorld Cargo, next question.

BBCWorld 因为你们的资本家需要 马内

What is the matter with the bbc ? All nuts ?

BBCWorld We are landlocked where would we get the medical supplies in our country for this pandemic?

because they do not want to give people’s money back- refunds, I guess.

If you don’t live near the Heathrow flight line then you can’t possibly realise the difference there has been

Because they meant to fly ? Or you want to run them on motorway ?

BuildTheWall CloseTheBorders

BBCWorld I haven't noticed any Chem trailing for weeks. That a bonus

Ground cost is usually greater than the airborne cost. They can still fly them as Cargo planes. Search a little, people.

BBCWorld because the were born too 🤷‍♂️

How are the hundreds of thousands Brits abroad supposed to get home, walk?

BBCWorld Medical supply, food is crucial.

BBCWorld Because every country has the virus now? closingstabledoorafterhorsehasbolted

BBCWorld CARGO

BBCWorld Where are aeroplanes flying?

Probably to bring UK nationals home. Why are people still commuting every day when they are only a hindrance in fighting the virus. Every sector has take a hit. Why are they an exception

I went out my garden last night to watch the space station going over and was surprised to see 11 planes all in one line behind each other exactly spaced overhead, I thought there would be no flights.... really strange!

Just about 😂😂😂👍

BBCWorld Hope there empty! God Bless!

Omg they can't find a place to land!!! The horror of flying around until eternity!!!

Maybe all of them should be grounded

BBCWorld If it is flying, it's not the MAX!

Because they're made to fly? You want planes to walk and swim also?

Wow~ 👍👏💞😷

These pilots are some of the bravest in the world, endangering their lives to be of help to others....just as our police and military!

BBCWorld Did you not just hear what Raab was saying? And how the hell do people expect things to go from one long distance to another? (Although to be honest, my old man was always saying air balloons would come back and canals :P )

Why do birds, suddenly appear, everytime you are near....?

BBCWorld Yes, why are they flying.
