Why Anne Tyler won't be writing about the coronavirus

But do not expect the virus - or its impact - to make an appearance in her next novel, or even the one after that. The outside world does not tend to intrude in her books.

The Accidental Tourist was turned into a Hollywood movie in 1988 starring William Hurt, Geena Davis and Kathleen Turner. She won the Pulitzer Prize the following year for Breathing Lessons; and A Spool of Blue Thread was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 2015. Tyler likes to stick to what she knows best. It has been said that she essentially writes the same book, exploring the lives of middle class Americans, over and over again."About halfway through, I say, 'Oh, darn, it's the same book over again.'

A BBC arts correspondent writing about an authors plans! Why has this been posted on the bbcnews account rather than the bbcarts account?

I may have more assurances of having led 'a social life' than this author, who says they've quarantine lifestyle while having sold tens of millions of books : the multiplayer games I won as a kid more strongly suggested social experience than reports of book sales & check depost

I’ve never heard of her and I’m a little concerned I won’t like her writing style. I’d like to think maybe a little Stephen King as I enjoy a macabre tale. But I think an autobiography so people know who she actually is?

Irrelevant to the vast majority of the British public. Why the BBC thinks it's important God only knows. Meanwhile...

I would say the majority of people don’t give a fig about this ladies idyllic life. Why is it headline news. Do some investigative journalism on the effects of the 5G masts killing birds etc. Or will you be paid to shut up🤔

Will she be ordering a takeaway

I won't be writing about it either. You didn't ask me why. Never heard of this woman in my life.

Why, and who cares

someone will make a film from it though

How can we stop their spread? 🧐 “The US is running concentration camps on our southern border,” she stated, “and that is exactly what they are … I want to talk to the people that are concerned enough with humanity to say that ‘never again’ means something.”

Why a loss of smell may be a sign of coronavirusDoctors are calling for a loss of taste and smell to be added to the list of the main symptoms of coronavirus. This list currently only includes a continuous cough and/or high temperature. That is bullshit re olfactory. Can occur from a knock on the head, concussion,or anaesthetic gases from surgery. Herbert_L_Reed I was in Japan a year ago. Flew home with a cold. Lost my sense of smell and taste. It’s a bummer. Only have maybe 5% of it back. Was it corona virus? Herbert_L_Reed
