There is an 'exceptional' risk of wildfire

All barbeques have been banned in North Northamptonshire Council's public parks and woodlands this weekend. It comes after predicted high temperatures bring an "exceptional" risk of wildfire.

The dangerously high temperatures increase the risk of wildfires, which spread fast in the dry weather. NNC has therefore announced a ban on all barbeques in wild areas to reduce the risk.A spokesperson for NNC said: "The forecast of wildfire risk is showing as Level 5 - exceptional - over the next few days, from Friday 15th – Tuesday 19th July."

The FSI ratings are calculated using wind speed, temperature, time of year and rainfall to produce a fire severity assessment. The full assessment for Northamptonshire and the rest of the UK can be found here.

Disabled woman fined more than £1,000 for parking in disabled spotCerys Gemma says her parking space is inaccessible so she used disability parking bays for visitors. Good lord. Bit jobs worth to say the least from the parking company. Surely some common sense should have been applied here and the matter resolved amicably. What a despicable way to treat her.
