'We are part of a game': The refugees stuck in 'no man's land' at Turkey-Greece border

From Turkey's border with Greece, I write with a profound sense of deja vu.

Families from Syria, from Iran, from Iraq, from Afghanistan, from Tunisia, from Egypt, and from Morocco huddle around campfires hoping to cross into Greece., prompted to make the journey from elsewhere in Turkey because the Turkish government had hinted, through media it controls, that the path will be clear for them to enter Europe.

Most of them have been in Turkey for months or years. They left conflicts and persecution behind. Many tried to build lives in Turkey after their initial push to Europe over the last few years was blocked.But Turkey is overwhelmed and the migrants say they have no rights or ability to build a life there.Some local Turkish mayors even offered to transport them to the border. We saw one bus arriving at the frontier with the Turkish police walking it in.

Must be all the doctors nurses engineers scientists and experts we are in need of....

how stupid the Eu are they thought it was ok to give Erdogan money for deal,any sane person knew he would renege, why would u give billions to probably most dangerous man in Islamic world,will EU Dimwits to send their new army to Greece?they will not of course,gutless beaurocrats

The Turkish government said they would open it's borders and allow migrants through. They said nothing about what lies outside of turkey.

Time for eu to grow a pair, after taking billions Turks renege on the deal,EU should stop all tourism to Turkey immediateley and enforce sanctions, they wont, they will abandon Greece to cope themselves Greeks have done their bit for years, time for Uk to get tough on migrants

If Europe foolishly opens the door invite these migrants from the East into Europe they will invite in terrorism & problems. It will be a huge bad mistake letting them in.

Yeah, and the U.K. doesn't want to be the loser....🤔

It's not going to end well.... they must know they are not wanted by ANY country..... it's an invasion again....

If the Greeks let them in that could literally destroy the EU for good. Half-tempted to say let them in.
