Some major British supermarkets have announced plans to reduce their prices in time for a potentially difficult Christmas.

In acknowledgement of the economic climate, Waitrose will cut prices on 200 of its most popular own-label products, including beef mince, tea and washing-up liquid.Executive director James Bailey said: ‘This year has been incredibly challenging for consumers and we know times are tough for many, so we’re reducing prices to provide our customers with great value on the items they buy most.

Jo Whitfield, Co-op Food’s chief executive, said: ‘Value is uppermost in the minds of shoppers and offering good, honest prices and fairly sourced products is important to help shoppers balance their budgets.’

Oh that's nice of them after having put the prices up anyway. So bringing prices back to what they had been

Still be making huge profits and be more expensive than Aldi and Lidl.

That should more or less put them in line with most of the other grocery retailers then. 🤔
