UK average weekly wages return to pre-economic crisis levels for first time since March 2008
Average wages - when adjusted for inflation - exceed pre-crisis levels for the first time since 2008.
Excluding bonuses, earnings grew at an annual rate of 3.2% in the three-month period,The number of women in employment increased again - this time by 150,000 in the three months to December to a record high of 15.61 million. It's always good to have some cheerful news to report, such as the news that wages, after stripping out the effect of inflation, have finally squeaked above their level in March 2008. In other words, your wage can finally buy a little bit more than it could before the banking crisis. So let's celebrate. Hooray.
The 2008 crisis, caused by reckless mismanagement of the banks for which no-one has been punished, is one reason (not the only one) that the average pay packet has failed to do what we used to take for granted - i.e. increase by more than inflation.was right to leave interest rates unchanged last month.
"As more and more workers enter employment, it becomes harder for firms to recruit the employees they need, with a particular dearth in certain skill sets."

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson transferred to intensive care
Over 51,000 people in the United Kingdom have tested positive for COVID-19, including Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Prince Charles, heir to the British throne.
Incase anyone's interested in the truth. Ha ha Good joke Average...unfairly skewed by high earners would be nice to have some accurate reporting for those who are not getting eyewatering sums of wage? average for who? certainly not for Supermarket workers. Full time is more like £250.00 a week. Missed that memo of any pay progression.
LOL. I think it refers to full-time employees not part-time or zero hour contracts. I'm on a zero hours contract and never get more than £120 per week Another cut then. The tories said their austerity would get rid of the deficit by 2015. They lied as they always do. Yeah... so much progress. So what? The cost of everything else has increased substantially which then cancels out you supposed pre-economic crisis wage levels. Services, fuel, gas electric, council tax, food, etc etc all gone up in price. Which equals less bang for your buck.
Arr youbreslly sure youbwant to broadcast this . It’s GOOD news
‘We can’t afford healthcare’: US hospital workers fight for higher wagesHealthcare workers are launching union drives and organizing protests across the US for better pay and working conditions But I thought America was the greatest country in the world?! no doubt agent provocateured by the same lot that brought in the inversion of the 'right to work' bullshite that encouraged union destruction and set the working class up to 'fall apart' instead of 'standing together'... But the medical industry makes billion of dollars yearly OSD Syndrome Oppressing, Suppressing, and Depressing hard working Americans
Tell that to the millions that don't get paid within sniffing distance of that. So a 12 year wage stagnation, got it. Who's fingers are they. The government's lies again. Really! Not in our neck of the woods And it only took 12 years. Am I supposed to applaud this. 🤔 Is that a week or month? I work for the NHS and would have to do about 100 hours a month overtime to get paid that much!!!
Only for some So we’re being paid what we were getting 12 years ago.. Amazing... These figures take price inflation into account and are excellent news for all workers. . wages are still low. I am a resident in residential care with a learning disability and physical disabilities. I know careworkers working in domiciliary care and only get 90 pounds year while their CEO's, directors and management get up to 434,000 a year.

Enjoy being out of Government for at least the next 10 years.
So what you're saying is we are about 12 years behind where we should be if the crisis didn't happen? of course! we are loyal friends heart connected neighbors we are for peace people Earth Hahahaha!!! 8.21 minimum wage? I don't think so!!!! Instant recession and loss of 500,000 jobs after brexit 🙃 But the cost of living has outstripped any increase in wages for the bottom 15 million
Enjoy while it lasts. Bet you have far more high net worth individuals than in 2008 This is what we need. Employers fighting over good workers rather than employees have to grovel for minimum wage. Japan has finally collapsed after the economic crisis. We're sorry...
