Selfless volunteers and community groups have been praised for their sterling efforts as high winds and heavy rain battered much of the area over the weekend during Storm Babet.
“We opened the Hub and worked in conjunction with Kettins Parish Community Council to provide hot drinks, refill flasks and provided a facility for people to re-charge their mobile phones. A spokesperson for Alyth Resilience Team said: “Thanks again to everyone who volunteered with the flood response effort, and to all those who called or messaged the flood team to let us know about issues which required intervention. We also would like to give a special thank you to Jean at Alyth Town Hall who kept the space warm and the doors open for anyone who needed a place to rest. The community spirit in Alyth is amazing.
Cllr Shiers continued: “I have contacted Perth and Kinross Council to ask for officers to work with Angus Council to see if anything can be done to install passing places or widen the road at Ruthven that becomes the only route in and out of the local area when main roads are closed due to flooding. I am not sure if anything can be done to improve it but I have asked that it be looked at.
