Ofqual accused of ‘too little too late’ over reaction to impact of Covid-19 on GCSEs and A-levels

The government has been accused of having “its head in the sand” over next year’s GCSE and A-level exams, as headteachers complain that amendments do not go far enough to mitigate for the disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Ofqual proving they care more about the exams themselves than the kids. The consultation was a joke - basically “we’re doing what we have always done, because Y10/12 have been messed around more than any year group ever so, who cares?” This year’s cohort got ALL the breaks. 😡😡

Success in 2021 will be measured in the same way as in Mad Max.

Most of the GCSE and A level subjects arent at all necesary for what people want to do. Get rid of false gatekeepers and there will be no problem.

Scrap examinations. Educate the kids instead.

Surely a pandemic gives the opportunity to move from exams to a modular at least of learning with continual assessments. Let's face it they are more real-life. Exams suit people who can cram, whereas large% fold under the pressure at such a young age.

Yes yes & again yes - but also, fuck the Literature! Get rid (for AQA anyway) of the unseen examined comparative element for Poetry. For Language, that insane insistence on a CPre-20th prose extract for comparison in the exam... THAT is the killer for EAL and LA students.
